You would think that stuff like this would be in the past for MV. Just goes to show that there is still issues with the importer and dealer network. Why is this so hard?

For our non American friends:

The message Randrew's alluding to is the huge cultural differences in our country. For the past 40+ years California has been EXTREMLY proactive on various administrative regulations. Just the other day, I bought some kind of product (from Home Depot I think) that had some ridiculous disclaimer that something in the product causes cancer in laboratory rats.....and to wash your hands after contact with the packaging.....as instructed by some California governmental agency.

C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board?) has essentially set automotive pollution policy for the entire country since about 1968. CARB decrees some level of acceptable air pollution and the rest of the US follows shortly thereafter.

Some areas of the country mirror California in much of these legislative and regulatory issues, where others (Bubbaland) doesn't. Generally, the Deep South is much less intrusive on these matters. In Georgia or South Carolina, we assume that you know better than to put a plastic bag over your kid's head, or that you can drown in two inches of water. If you don't.......well, that's what Darwin's Theory is all about. California, on the other hand, is going to require three paragraphs of legal Mumbo jumbo to insure that idiots (at least those that are sober and can read) are protected against themselves.

In the republic of CA, everything can be fixed with money, how much money does MV wanna throw at it.

I feel bad for the dealers with merch on the floor they can't move.

You know, Balz, almost all great nations in history have seen their downfall due to a minor clerical issue......:)

Stop panicking everyone. It's just a minor clerical issue and it probably will be taken carenof in a few days.

No doubt......but that's the point, isn't it? In Arizona or Texas, it wouldn't ever get to that.......

The government loons don't care one bit about those whose living is affected by their bureaucratic muscle flexing.

Or to protect corporations (and individuals) from being sued by those idiots.

Thanks for put some light for us non Americans on this topic, these are exactly the product instructions we die for laughing, you can't imagine how many jokes are circulating in Europe about american regulations which makes people think it must be a population of idiots. Happy to know there is still a part of the USA with a more "european" way of thinking.

Ok, maybe they need to protect the industries from being sued by dumb people, but there should not even exist such laws which allows that.

In Europe we also have pollution policies for cars etc. , and on the periodic morization check you must show the evidence that your vehicle is still within the range of the limits. But as far I know there is no periodoc pollution check for bikes in any EU country. Why? Simple, because the amount of bikes compared to other pollution emitting vehicles is not significant.

And more, if a vehicle has passed homologation in any EU country you can have it homologated in all other EU countries as well, even in Suisse which is still not part of the CE.

Are you expecting American politicians to use common sense? There's no money in that. :)
Yes, that's maybe the reason, they are more "business oriented" :naughty: than EU politicians

Epic post from another forum

Haaaaaaaa… Keep it up Democrats.

What happened…Did they discover it had "evil assault rifle lookalike tailpipes" or something ?

MV forget to pay off the right ECO bunch ?

Did it not have a child lock safety feature ?

The 40+ MPG on a motorcycle not offset the carbon footprint of going over 100mph ?

They lacked the prerequisite "gay pride special edition corse model" ?

The instruction manual not have the spanish language insert ?

WHO would live in that totally fucked up state ? Is there anything that is still normal there?

NOLA
Unthanks
Thanks from you, Gunny Fitz, 1199 dreamer and 1 others
