Just back from 4 days at the Mid Ohio vintage Motorcycle days.

Few thoughts, sure others will chime in.

Weather: Hazy HOT HUMID!!! At least it didn't rain. Drank gallons of water and sweat like everyone else!

MV display: As the featured marque this year, big tent with many bikes from the 50's to present day. Many race machines and all the new toys. 1000R is stunning!

Giacomo Agostini!!!! :drummer: :yo: It was an honor to meet such a legend! Got my side panel on my 910R signed and asked someone to take my picture with him. The guy shook while taking the shot so it is blurry! :bash: Watching and listening to him lap the track with his race bike made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!

My bike was used as a display all weekend...wish the shot came out better....

The highlight (for me) Being able to ride my 910R on the track with nothing but other MV's!! It was structured at first, tips from instructors on form, then being able to go at your own pace was PRICELESS!!!

Last night we were at it again. this time, ALL of the MV workers were able to take out the demo fleet for some laps! just picture about 15-20 MV's just going around! :drummer:

Then we were able to just hot lap untill we dropped.
What a rush having the track basically all alone for lap after lap!
Then a few of us ran hot laps together.
In the group I was running with was a 1000 Tamburini, F4SPR, a few 1000f4's, Brutales from 750's, S and R's just running the track!

I'm still pumped from running with these guys (all great riders) the thrill of hitting speeds over 140mph on the straights and working these bikes like they should be will be with me for a lifetime!

Thank you Cagiva USA!!

all in all, over two days on the track I ran around 40 laps! look what it did to my tire! All good!!

More later when others come back.

Pictures:

Ago lapping with his 500cc race bike. What a sound!
My fuzzy pict with Giacomo.
The rear tire of my 910R after about 40 laps!!

It was the track time that blew me away.

It is just unreal that Cagiva USA set this up for MV owners.

Instructors, training and and tracktime for just MV owners! (FREE)

I really thought I was dreaming. I was doing laps at Mid-Ohio all alone (well no one in site) and I was just smiling ear to ear in my helmet!

Then when in a group, rounding the keyhole at the start of the back straight when all the MV's just opened it up and ran through the gears to 140 and more was just unbelievable!

The 910r was flawless (as was all the other MV's out there) Pure race bred bikes that just seemed to smile as we ran harder and harder lap after lap!

Handling was just about perfect with me being the limiting factor. Just hearing the engines winding out over and over was pure music........

Lucky instructors also. They ran the Brutes and 1000R bikes and they could not stop talking about how impressed they were with the bikes.

I want to do that again............wow.

i'm so glad you had this opportunity. it really speaks volumes about MV and their committment to their customers (your "missing" exhaust system, notwithstanding)...

did you have a chance to:
1. meet alex bennett.... director of sales for MV/Cagiva US?
2. ask anyone about your exhaust system and WHEN it might arrive?

Yes I met and talked to Alex, he set up the track time. Great guy!

I talked to Matt about the exhaust. He stated that 40 full systems were built and shipped. I pressed about time in hand and his best guestimate was two weeks shipping and maybe a few weeks after that. Like everything Italian, no hard fast times. Rome wasn't buit in a day ya know! :cross:

thanks for that info
glad that Alex was nice in person.... he has been EXTREMELY HELPFUL in our phone conversations. nice doesn't necessarily make things happen quicker... but i'm glad to know that Cagiva USA has hired some pleasant folks. He has told me more than once that my 910R will be at my dealer by the end of next week...
i really don't know WHAT to think about that claim.... but, i guess he'd know better than most anyone else in THIS country :)

thanks again

I agree with Airfuel that Cagiva USA did a great job at Mid Ohio. It was awesome to see Ago riding the track on the 3 cylinder 500 and hear that fire engine wail!

The bike exhibit was great also with many famous ex race bikes from the 50's and 60's. The bikes are absolute works of art! I liked the new 1000R in Red and Silver and the Senna was also gorgeous.

Unfortunatly I flew there from Albuquerque so I didn't have my Ago, I can only imagine how much fun it would have been to have ridden it on track. I will post some pics when I get some time. :yo:

Just back...one hour ago;

Suffice to say, I had a GREAT weekend.

It is going to take days to get pictures from professional photgrapher(s), and video from Thomas, who is just now arriving at his home, and my creativity for a "real" report is currently exhausted....so reread John's post as a teaser for more to come.

Briefly:long ride ~475miles each way. Wonderful museum past to present, video of vintage MV racing. MV store with gear gallor at GREAT prices. Demo area with 10 F4s/10 Brutale 910 and ~475 rides safely enjoyed over 3 days..EVERYONE left with a :) . Giacomo Agostino in the flesh hanging out, and parade laps on MVs old and new including F4R( introducing it to USA). UNENCUMBEREDMV ONLY FREE TRACK TIME WITH INSTRUCTORS Fri sat sun 6-8pm, AND MON 11am-1pm for 2 guys named Peter and Thomas with instructor. Meeting GREAT guys into vintage bikes and others into new machines, and hanging with old and new friends..Sampson, Jake, John--figgin Airfuel in the flesh, and Chris and MANY others.

I leave you with this thought...what was so great about the weekend was the shared passion for the MV marque crystalizing this event. And did I mention a newly surfaced wonderful track ... :) where my skill set improved to a new level? :hitit:
