You know that warning on the Viagra commercials... if you experience an erection lasting more than four hours, call a doctor?

Well.. I spent five hours on my Brutale today, so somebody please... Call a doctor!!! :naughty:

I rode up to Ventura along PCH, then up and down a few canyons. I absolutely love this bike. It seems to enjoy blasting around the canyons like it was made for a mountainous Mediterranean climate. Hmm... I wonder why! I experienced the best mileage yet on this bike (30.5 mpg). It was 92°F outside (according to my brother's K12GT) and sitting in traffic, Bruty's oil temp read a new observed high of 217°. I notice that anything above 201° and I start feeling it on my right heel. It's going to be a hot summer.

The bike developed a nasty stalling problem on the way back home... the same one written up on the board extensively. It stalled eight times stopping in traffic along PCH. I guess I have a trip to the dealer coming up soon.

Here are some pics...

great write-up
31.5 mpg?
that's more than i've EVER gotten.... and i have the pciii/usb on board

as for the stalling problem.... as you said: they ALL do it

STILL: the WEIRDEST thing about MY 910R....
there is NOTHING in the RPM range between 1,350 and 2,200

even if i move the throttle 1 micron from 1,350... it's already at 2,200

no matter how many times they work on it
of course.... John/airfuel could fix that... i have NO doubt

I can only dream of those sorts of consumption figures! :)

I've noticed something else about the stalling problem - there seems to be special sensor that detects when you've lane split to the front of the lights between two powerful cars that want to race you. This sensor then stalls the engine just as the lights go green... :)

I find that issue with the throttle too Greg. It seems to be related to the set-up of the unit itself and the springs more than anything else though - IMHO.

Fantastic pictures, by the way. You have a great eye. What sort of camera was it?

Wow, Beautiful Bike. Nice pics. As Sventekoz mentioned, great eye.
I love the red frame, reminds of a red thong on a beautiful girl, you know who you are(in case my gf decides to read my posts, hehe). I some times wished the 910R had the red frame option, but then again that would take away from the stealth look.
I do have a couple questions for you. What kind of frame sliders are those and were you concerned with the direct mount to the engine block head? I read a post here how a member shorted the frame slider and used a bolt to mount the sliders into the head of the prexisting bolts of the engine block. I was thinking of doing the same thing. But have to do all the cutting and fabricating myself, and was thinking if i am just over reacting on the whole notion that direct frame slider bolt on will strip the engine head in case of a bad drop.

thanks for sharing the pics

No they don't "all do that." Carefull throttle body sync and tps adjustment will take care of the stalling.

The throttle just off idle: Yes they all do that. I don't think it is curable, but I will try a few more things when the brute comes out of hibernation. But, it sure does make for fast get aways!!

Oil temp? What you are looking at water temp and those temps are normal and nothing to worry about! Wish I was out riding......

The camera is a little point-and-shoot Canon SD700 IS. I love it 'cause it fits in my jacket pocket. I used to carry around a Canon digital Rebel SLR with a bunch of lenses when I traveled. Not anymore! :)

I absolutely hate the way those frame sliders look, but they're a damn site prettier than a damaged frame. To be honest, I didn't give a second thought as to how they were mounted. They were what was available at Pro Italia when I took Bruty in for its first service. I'm always on the lookout for better looking/more effective sliders. Suggestions welcome.

Oops... did I say "oil temp?" I meant "coolant temp."

been posts about stalling that your local dealer could sort out(throttle
adjustments?). With luck I should be able to riding....in April!

Great intro :) nice pics, hope to see you soon!

Keep us posted on the stalling issue. As stated, you aren't the only one, but it is very fixable

Yeah. Mine too, but mine jumps from 1250 to 2000 rpm. Good thing I NEVER use that rpm range.

Oh, and I consistently get 30mpg...3mpg less than CycleWorld is getting on their ZX14. WTF?

I think that these LSL sliders have a bit more finished look more appropriate for our italian bikes.

Yeah it would be great to sort the stalling issue out, mine has done it quite a few times now. I phoned my dealer and they will be checking with the importer to see if they know anything that can be done.

Airfuel, is what you are saying the cure for the stalling or not??

Cheers

Nice write up. I enjoyed your pics as well. I agree with you about the frame sliders. I could work up some billet aluminum pieces if that would work, or make them out of delrin. Anyone have any ideas?

When I installed my Ti system and chip, I needed to set the TPS and idle speed.
I rushed the job and the bike stalled many times a day.(never stalled stock)
After a very precise Throttle body sync, the stalling is gone.
