Hello

Today i got my rear hub appart in order to check it and regrease it or replace the bearings if needed.

My bike is a 750 Brut and has got the updated rear hub with 2X HK5520 needle bearings and 1X 6810RS roller bearing.

In order to degrease the hub i submerged it into a tub full of kerosine.

I checked the bearings and all seem to be in good condition. No bitings or burn marks on the sleeves etc

Here are my questions :

1) Should I replace the 6810 sealed bearing with a new one provided that the degreasing agent should have penetrated the seals of the bearing?

2)I haven't removed the two needle bearings but I gave them a thorough cleaning with kerosine and a toothbrush. Then got hold of an air gun and had them airsprayed and wiped with a cloth. To my understanding some degreaser and/or old grease/contaminants maybe are still present inside there . Am I ok to procced repacking it with grease ? How do you wash and clean the bearings?

Thanks for the answers

If all you used was kerosene to wash out the old grease then don't worry about tiny amounts of residue. And you can pop the seal off the 6810 bearing to repack it with grease.

Use a high temp - high pressure grease. I use a grease specified for CV Joints.

No,
6810-2RS bearings have real rubber seals, unlike the 1st Gen MVs with 3810-2RS bearings with plastic dust covers/separators
Rubber seals shouldn't be disturbed ......they are sealed for life....lube your needle bearings and reassemble

Here are the ones I sell

So I am keeping the same 6810RS bearing without having to worry about it?

Guess I saved myself 50euros (which is the cost of a new 6810 bearing here) for the next time.

Could you give me a price + shipping (Greece) for the bearing you sell ? Thanks:smile2:

Evagelos;
You should be fine with all the hub bearings
I know of only 1 needle bearing failure, remove the spacer between the inner races VERY carefully it can
cut the seals ......deburr it
