So, a few days ago I had to endure several hours of heavy rain, and as a result it seems to have got into the rear light cluster and now three of the LEDs have gone dim.

Can they be replaced? Or will the whole cluster need replacing?

Do MVs come with any kind of waterproofing from the factory? 馃

On the Stradale and on the Turislow.
Waterproof means when the water is in it never comes out.

Can they be replaced? Or will the whole cluster need replacing?
Opening the comma shaped blinker is easy. Drying and fixing the wire is also easy.

Closing the assembly again in a waterproof way is next to impossible.


No warranty, change blinkers
cheaper solution.


Do MVs come with any kind of waterproofing from the factory? 馃
Some dealers have used some grey goo where the cable goes in the shell.
No good :crying:

After last change, warranty job,
I forgot the usual remedy
same thing happened 3 lower LED dead.


A (careful) punch with a needle tip soldering iron at the bottom of the casing.
Pshhitt it went, water drip out.
Next day the blinker dried and everything lit up again.

The Rain In Spain

The wiring is definitely dry (the bike was in 30 degree heat for a few days in Spain over the weekend!...
If the indicator case isn't vented warm moisture inside at the bottom will result in this.
Opening the case to check the wiring and soldering corroded contacts will ruin the "watertight" lens.

3 bottom LED dead on the LH rear indicator of the Turislow.
Unit replaced by dealer. He gave me, by mistake, a bill.
About 400 鈧 with 2 Hours of work!

Warranty job it was hence MV Agusta would certainly foot his bill.

No cash changed hands.

Forgot to punch the small vent hole at the bottom of the brand new unit.


New blinker failed after first rain.
Punch a hole, drain the case [immediately]. Easy instant long lasting fix.

Dim bulb

...I meant the rear light/brake light cluster (the right hand unit, not that it matters).
Something like this


A Stradale has 2 pairs of tail/stop lights.
Swap the inboard lights with the one in the soft bag.
Peeling the lining of the bag see that you also have to swap the connectors!


Give you some time to do something about the failure.


You can butcher the back of the light like here.
Try to fix the open circuit and resolder what got loose.
The hole can then be patched a la Frankenstein with lots of glue, and fiberglass mat for instance.


When in place no one sees the steampunk dressing on the back of the case.


Or order a new one and wait for delivery.

Just to follow this up - took off the rear lights with the intention of replacing the LEDs. Couldn't figure out how to safely pry apart the lens so gave up! Tempted to buy them now but 拢150 each... Not cheap.
