Hi,

this is my first post. I have been browsing the forum, lately, though. Currently, I have a 2007 Aprilia RSV Factory, which I am pondering to replace.

Previously, I had a 999 S with 15K trouble free miles (city, track and the Alps), by which I may be an exception, having heard so many stories about Ducatis.

However, I am pretty satisfied with the Aprilia, but always admired and wanted to try out an MV F4. I used to own a Cagiva Xtra Raptor in the past, too, (it is from the same group as MV) with which I had only very positive experience.

As for the Duc., I really loved it. I gotta admit though that I am faster on the Factory and it is easier to ride (for me at least), still the Duc was a different kind of owner experience. I am not talking about posing, here.

I am a V2 guy, or have been, so far. I loved the engine of the Duc and, though I do ride jap bikes regularly, I am not a big fan of inline-4s.
I am also told by friends who swear on Ducati that it'd be pretty hard - near impossible - to sell a used MV later, and that the company is in a bleak situation.

So, I would appreciate any opinions or suggestions, especially from those who have experience (by experience I mean not only a few rides) with MVs and Aprilia or Ducati.

My preferences:

- I don't mind comfort (I ride in town quite regularly, but I buy a bike for the fun part, which is either the track or mountain twisties), I haven't had any problems with an aggressively setup 999 S or the Factory, both roasted my legs, btw :)
- Power is not the most important for me, I appreciate a good chassis and suspension (and power delivery) much more than outright power
- I ride my bikes, i.e. around 6-10K miles a year
- my three choices are:
1. keeping the Factory
2. 1098 S
3. MV Agusta F4 312 R or the 1078 or anything that might come out this year (I can wait for next year)

I will be selling my my F4 on a buy one (312R) get one free F4 (EV03 track bike) basis

hello,

Before mine F4 1000 I owned an aprilia factory rsv 1000.
I did love the F4 from the beginning, the ride is smoother and more direct then the aprilia. Only thing I missed at first was the sound but know with my aftermarked exhausts that raw and loud sound is back :D

I forgot to add:

there are so many versions of F4 that I would really appreciate if you could recommend one or two or at least highlight the major differences among them (obviously, I have read the spec sheets).

Aesthetically, I like the Ago and the Senna version the best, but I am open to any suggestions.

I too owned a factory and miss it!! don't get me wrong the 1000r is great; but I'm sure I could lap faster on the factory because of its smooth power band. the mv is a freakin beast with monster powerband so be pointed and ready when it hits. and also the lack of engine braking on downshift is a factor; truly an experts tool!!! have no Idea about the ducati 999s and am actually lookin at one right know for purchase so I will be checkin back on peoples comments-VAN

geezer these bikes arec something else, honestly you will not be disapointed, get a 1000cc machine to totaly blow you away!

MV was just purchased by H-D, so take that for what it's worth, but used MV's are easier to sell than used Aprillias.

When I got my Brute last August, I had looked at an 03 Tuono in Pheonix. It was very clean with low miles for $8K. I would have bought it for that price if my feet would have touched the floor when sitting on it. Just after my purchase I saw it was down to $7K. I wonder what it sold for or if it sold. It was on consignment.

Well, I am not so worried about residuals, after all. Given the ridiculously low prices (thanks to the dollar's weakness) in the States, I should get a good deal.

I would love to buy the bikes off F41NXS but I might not get the necessary funds in time. If I have to wait till the end of the season (i.e. november) I'll have enough time to import a bike from overseas (I hope the exchange rate doesn't change much by then).

Anyway, is it worth to pay extra for special editions (Senna, Ago, etc, ... CC is out of question :) )? I am not after exclusivity that much, the actual ride is what matters to me. So, do the special parts on Sennas, etc. (e.g. the Sachs racing shock) make any difference when on the bike in the real world?

On the Ducs they did, I felt the 999 S better than the 999.
