hi my name is colin - been a sports bike nut (and race fan)for years. purchased an MVF4S back in 2000 and have stayed loyal to the brand since. My latest bike is an F4s312R (all previous bikes were F4s also)i have been reading the various posts on these models with interest - one common theme that is always cropping up is the hot running of these bikes.I have been given all the excuses for this (runs lean to get through euro111 emissions - fairing fit etc)however on a bike as good as this i feel MV should have sorted the problem from the off!! my bike has boiled over twice now on long runs in the country side (cooling fan relay& faulty radiator cap)i have fitted the after market metal cooling fans to mine which has helped the problem somewhat tho not cured it - i also turn the bike off when running at a standstill (also read about the impeller mod) but the question is should owners have to shell extra dosh to sort out a bike which has heating problems from new!! the answer quite clearly is no! i find all other aspects of the bike brilliant - power, handling and looks.I am afraid the achilles heal in the F4 is it's overheating apart from this it is one hell of a motorcycle

having got that off my chest hi to everybody looking forward to being part of this great forum.

Welcome aboard!

If your bike is one of the ones that over heats, there is a fairly straightforward fix that is not too expensive.

Welcome en enjoy your stay at this lovely forum.

Heat problems could be solves with the 'VESUVIO impeller' which had a significant effect on the temp.

Like many have said, the "heating problem" is only a problem when your not using the bike the way it was designed for (Going really fast). People tend to forget that it is a Race bike with mirrors and turn signals. When you put around town "so to speak" its understandable that the fairing enclosed hyper motor will start to heat. I don't think its wrong for owners to shell out an extra 2-400 dollars on more efficient cooling products, but thats just my opinion. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your 312!
