I recently changed my rear right indicator. after replacing the unit I started it up checked to see if it was working, great.
then checked left indicator yeah that was ok too, only the front left had stopped working.
Any ideas?

The old mechanics belief is the problem that cropped up after recent maintenance is directly related to the performed maintenance.

Check your work.

My left front indicator stops working intermittently. I have been able to repeat the fault by manipulating the wires at the connector near the forks, but unable to find an actual break. But it does seem to be a wire / connector fault. The problem goes away for long periods then all of a sudden comes back. By the time I get home it's working again and finding the fault is hard.

I have already had a replacement left rear at less than 3k miles! The rear was defo an LED unit fault, swapped the L and R connectors with the good one and it confirmed the unit as faulty.

Check your indicator cable over the full length: if not properly positioned, you may have pinched the cable (please don't ask me how I know that :-D)...

Replaced the new unit with the old unit, hoping that it was the new unit with a fault,
Unfortunately this has not resolved the issue with the front left indicator, also notice rear left indicator flashing double time ??

Checked my work with a mate who does a lot of work on his Yamaha TDM, reverted back to the old indicator unit but still having the same issue

Flashing double time indicates the load on the system is light. That means the turn signal is not being seen by the wiring. Are you sure it isn't the bulb?

Oh, and FFS put the model and year of your bike in each of your posts, or add it to your signature line. That will help us help you.

I believe, if we are diagnosing the pictured TV, that the signals are controlled over CAN BUS by the ECU.

I had the double time flashing on the left side after having changed my indicators. Verdict: pinched cable: contact is enough to light on the leds in the rear Indicator, but not enough to pass the full load. Unmounted, cut the cable, and used autosoldering connector to repair it. Works like a charm. The fact the cable is passing thru this messy mudgard and the arm linking it to the swingarm doesn't really help: there is fair chance to pinch one of the cable if you did not follow the exact good path to put the cable.
