i went riding with some old friends today.
we've been ALL OVER North America over the years
they both ride Harleys... at a "sedate" pace
i decided to take my Brutale, anyway

almost 200 miles
and a wonderful day
low 70s... a few clouds
to St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota, through Bradenton, and Long Boat Key

60 mph max on the interstate
30 mph most of the time, down the beach...... VERY CROWDED TODAY
and.....
you know what

i STILL had a great time

a few pictures for your enjoyment

Greg,

Sounds like a thrilling day. Hope you stopped at the pharmacia for some Geritol and ex-lax. Dinner with the in-laws would be icing on the cake for a really GREAT day.

I suppose the Brutale is a bit of a cruiser compared to the F4!!!

Glad you had a great day!

An excellent perspective of bike riding all across the enjoyment spectrum! Believe it or not, I sometimes just cruise only to enjoy my engine at a leisurely pace. It's a pleasure no matter what speed I ride.

Oh the agony!

Putzing around on the Brute is like taking a Playboy Playmate to a bingo game!
That's why you must have more than 1 bike.

When I want to tootle around, out comes the Guzzi EV or the '71 BMW.

Greg, tell me at least once during that day, you wound the Brute to the redline, or took a corner at a fast clip?
If not, go to the garage and apologize to your Brutale.

When an animal is mistreated you call the Humane Society. Who do you call when a Brutale is abused?

those other bikes of your's are great, as well
i would have taken the K1200GT today.... but, i rode her yesterday

i blew by them a few time around a few corners...
took her to 10,500 rpm once or twice
otherwise, i was afraid she'd THROW ME OFF :jsm:

Sounds like an awesome ride!
The girlfriend and I vacationed in Siesta Key in 2004. Awesome place and I am sure the riding is fantastic. While there we visited all of the places you mentioned.
The thing I liked about your post is that I am still a current Harley-Davison owner. I now make fun of myself because most people go from Japanese cruiser to H-D. I went from H-D to Italian Artistry!
I also come up with sayings to amuse myself, using the H-D theme, such as "Don't bother explaining, I wouldn't understand." Ha! What about this..."If you can read THIS you are obviously not on a Harley-Davison."
I once saw a T-shirt with a picture of a Heritage Softail (does anyone here have a clue what that is? Answer: Barcalounger with two wheels.) Anyway, the shirt simply said "Why?" beneath the picture. That always cracked me up.

I enjoyed your post, Greg. It's nice to see that you and your friends aren't bike snobs and can ride for the comraderie and not for the posing.

Good on you.

For all those who insist on redlining your bike on the street, good luck with that. Personally I find that redline in any gear, even first, results in lawbreaking speeds-- and the noise draws the attention of the law in a hurry.
