That's just a 12 point socket.... Probably 10mm ?? Readily available everywhere. Assembly will require a good torque wrench.

Slowly getting there. Had the bores honed this week and just reinstalled the piston. New looks much better than the old one. The bore was in good condition and got it honed as I had the engine apart. Just waiting on cylinder head to be repaired and try to put it all back again.

Looking good! It's interesting that your new pistons came with no coating. It doesn't matter just an observation and sort of strange since you got OEM pistons. You would think they would be the same. (Or maybe not, this is MV after all!) I'm glad all you needed was a hone. That makes things easier. Keep up the good work!

Hopefully I won’t need the information but just wondering who in Melbourne you got to do your head repair, what experience they had with MVs and what your experience was like dealing with them?

I got the head repaired by c&c engineering in thomastown. They actually had the head repaired by another person. Very happy with the service, an old school shop with lots of knowledge and common sense. Lots of race bikes in the shop for repairs. They did not have much experience with Mv,s but they had no concerns with the repair.

Finally back together, delayed response due to waiting for head repair and good dose of COVID.
Wonderful job!

I wish I had the skill, time and the space to do this. I only have an uncovered driveway.

Great reading, but I'll have to pay for all my labour I think.

Thanks for the inspiration.
