So I bought some titanium goodies from a forum member and I was surprised to find that the ti-parts are actually heavier than the stock parts. I'm assuming my wheel and carrier nuts are stock since I bought the bike second hand. Are the stock nuts made of magnesium on a 2008 R312? Any insight would be appreciated :wtf:

Like for like Tit will always be heavier than an Alu or Mag alloy. The skill in designing for Tit (or any other material) is to work out what structure you need to maximise the performance properties of the material. Replacing stressed steel components axles and alike, with Tit parts optimised for Tit can easily reduce the weight of the parts, the same cannot always be said for Alu or Mag Alloys parts.

Sorry I don't. If you are after bling (nothing wrong with that we have all bought MV's after all) then stick them on and dont worry about the extra weight. Yes its un-sprung mass but hey a Mars bar of coffee will probably have a greater effect!

The stockers are aluminum to the best of my knowledge.

You don't buy Titanium for lightness but rather for strength.
If you want to save weight Magnesium is the way.:smile2:
