G'day All,
I have noticed that some 750F4s' idle with a "romp,.... romp, ...romp, ...romp romp .... sound and others don't. Why is that? My sons and mine don't.

Greets ogrilp400,

Have you identified which years make this irregular heart beat?

As far as I know mine is as you describe(2000) model as I have been asked about the sound before. The early F4's had an odd timing setup, which also makes em run hotter. Folks like Merc and theKnurl can explain. this.
Also are you talking about bikes all having the same exhaust and fuelling, ie PCIII's and open exhausts as this may change what sounds are more pronounced?

It is a slightly low idle RPM that causes the "Big Cam V8" loping idle sound.

My 910R exhibited this same symptom until I got the idle tuning correct.....still does when the engine is cold and I turn the fast idle lever off.

I kind of liked it a little bit....people would look at it and think "that's a hot rod engine". But it also contributed to snatchy throttle off idle and occasional stalls (especially when cold and really low idle).

My F4 SPR never had a low idle so never exhibited the symptom.

I guess your bike doesn't have a "lumpy cam".... Curios, how did you change the idle speed??
