Andrew......unfortunately, this video doesn't show us how to play the drums.....it merely shows those of us that play the drums (me) how much better others are than us (me). :)

Pretty cool Andrew. I did the count in my Betallion final pass out parade, it takes a lot of practice. Dad used to take us to a few Durban Military Tattoo in South Africa, great to watch.

I'll get lost on YouTube occasionally and run across magnificently talented drummers that make me want to quit. I've played drums in our church band for the last six years or so, after a 40 year layoff. I'm good enough to not screw up the church music, but not good enough to command my own drum solo......:ahhh:

Sorry if we’re getting away for the original post re: drum lines, matching bands and the like but...
This is not the most complex drumming nor a tune that everyone likes however, this YouTube video is one of my favourites for many reasons as you’ll see.

dash, dot, dash, dash / dash, dot, dash, dash / dash, dash, dot, dot

The story behind the original tune and a studio performance of it.

best comment on Buddy Rich....

"Every once in a while, on this earth, a person is born that has special talents so far above the rest of us, that their accomplishments become legend. Buddy Rich was one such man. No one like him, before, or since. Sure, one day someone else will come along and eclipse his talent on the drums; but it probably won't be any time soon. And we're all lucky that some of his best work exists and will be available for posterity, to inspire others to follow in his footsteps. Hail the master with the sticks; Buddy Rich."

there you go

Fantastic Jazz drummer no doubt...and his speed was amazing., but I preferred Gene Krupa.

As rock however is more my genre ..., Neil Peart has to be the greatest of them all!
