FOR ALL THATS BEEN DISCUSSED ABOUT THE NEW F4 1000R WITH ITS NEW HIGH END COMPONETS, IMPROVED PERFORMANCE, AND MOST OF ALL ENGINE MODIFICATIONS. I'D LIKE TO SEE A F4 750R WITH THE SAME ABOVE DETAILED IMPROVMENTS. WHAT IS THE LIKELY HOOD OF THAT HAPPENING IN THE NEAR FUTURE. IT GIVES AN ALTERATIVE TO THE DEBATE OF WANTING THE BEST OF WHAT'S NEW IN THE MOST POWERFUL 1000R, TO A MORE REASONABLE ALTERNATIVE OF OWNING A F4 750R FOR US SO CALLED MORTALS.

JUST THINK! TO HAVE EVERY THING YOU WOULD WANT AND EXPECT FROM THE LATEST F4 1000R, IN A SLIGHTLY LIGHTER F4 750R. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? ITS IT A POSSIBILITY, MAYBE IN LATE 2007 OR 2008; OR EM I JUST DREAMING. :idea:

Nice idea, but I doubt the 750 would be significantly lighter. For example, the 1000 is a couple of kilograms lighter than the 750, so you may only get a few of kg advantage at most by going the other way. :stickpoke

If it is more power you want, I understand that there is a 850 kit for the 750 which takes hp to about 160 - not far off the 1000.

If MV were to do a completely new 800 cc model, that WOULD be interesting. As long as it isn't yet another "special edition" variation on a somewhat over flogged theme! :jsm:

If MV doesn't start making new bikes, as distinct from the recycling variants of the F4 (which is a nice machine!), then I doubt they have a long term future. :jsm:

Well, there was some talk about 750 - 800cc making a come back. Maybe if that market segment picked up and MV had the resources, a new 750 may appear. Maybe

MV's idea is to gradually improve and develop current bikes and over the years they will slowly change to the better. This is what we are seeing now and it is how the evolution of good design takes place. Look at how the Porsche has evolved in the retro style - it's amazing how it looks so contemporary and is as modern as any vehicle on the road but it still has the unmistakable original design ideas.

The 800 is the new MotoGP size isn't it - so I guess it is highly likely MV will do a 800?

The 750 class is, unfortunately, all but dead; with only the GSX-R surviving as a "large-motored 600". MotoGP will be no influence, as the rules clearly state that the bikes are NOT to be based on production machines.

Great dream, though; an up-spec, lightweight 750/800 would be the perfect balance.

Maybe a F4-600 is the answer then? Trouble is, these days to be competitive 600s have become practically unrideable. (I'd love an R6 if they were 15 bhp lower, re-geared and 10 ft-lb stronger.)

It's sad that if you want to ride a sportsbike we're all but limited to revvy 600cc that have become almost disposable in their quest for lightness, or 1000cc 170 bhp monsters. (Virtually) no 750cc machines, no more 250cc corner-carvers. (You can't beat an RGV or RS on the track for fun.)

The 750 was always the perfect compromise to me. But then again, a new GSX-R750 has 40% more power than the original Honda Fireblade, so maybe the goal posts have moved beyond the need for a 750 with 600s now filling the gap. Which then begs the plea: Gimme a new generation of hot-poop 400s!!

You'll see the 750's come back. Even though Moto-GP is proto bikes, Honda still markets the 600RR and especially the 1000RR as "moto-GP technology at consumer pricing". They're even modeled to look like the RC211V. It's thier marketing scheme, and is pitched even more on the 1000RR to be a "derivitive" of the RC211. Now that MGP is going to 800cc, you'll start seeing companies marking 750's again as "MGP derived bikes"....

The rebirth of the 750 is coming. 1000's are getting lighter and lighter, and now that Moto GP is going down to 800cc, people are going to want 750 weights, with literbike power... A 750 will handle significantly lighter if the same weight as a 1000 due to reciprocating mass is less on the 750. You'll see...750's are just around the corner for a come back.

they already have a 750R...it's called the SPR. 50mm Marzocchi=new suspension, revised cams and header=more hp, oh well on the brakes, and different look.

at least that's how i see it.

Well...that's true...black paint scheme and all....it's the OG R series...

I couldn't agree more. I would love to see full-tilt high-spec 400/500s and 750/800s join the 1000 Fours/1200 Twins as the three main classes in racing and in the dealers' showrooms. A hot 125 and 250 would also be great to see in the manufacturers' line-ups. I'm not holding my breath, though.

YES I agree. MV needs to cut a lot of weight, say 40 kgs off of these....

According to Goggi........the new F41000 is about 10kg heavier than the new ZX10.........he puts that down too swingarm, exhaust system and large folks....I dont thing CRC will find 40kg to remove...I wish they could.
The actual engine in the 1000 is lighter than the old 750 !!!

As for the 750R............fabulous idea, but it's kinda like the old SPR.

I wonder why MV chose to call the new upspec model "R" and not the F4 1000SPR ???

I HADN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THE F4 SPR, BUT YOU'RE CORRECT. THE 750 SPR CAN BE LOOKED AT AS A 750R. BUT, THAT JUST LEAVES ME WITH ONE QUESTION. WHY HAV'NT WE'VE SEEN A NEW F4 750 SPR LATELY. IN FACT, THE 750 SPR IN THE MATTE BLACK COLOR WAS ONE OF THE FIRST F4'S THAT I REMEMBER VIEWING IN THE PAST THAT HAVE ALWAY'S BEEN MY FAVORITE. SO, CAN WE EXPECT A NEW 750 SPR IN THE NEAR FUTURE WITH ALL THE NEW LATEST HIGH END COMPONETS AND A MODIFIED ENGINE LIKE THE F4 1000R. :)
