Looking at the wiring diagram for a 2005 1000S, it seems the "NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH" is the ONLY component that gives the magnetic relay it's GROUND. Reason why I'm asking is because I recently had a no start situation. Fuel pump primes, but there is no audible clicking. I attempted to do the recommended diagnostic procedure which is to read the voltage across the starter relay electromagnet... since I did not have a multitester at the time... but I had a test light. I connected the test light to ground... to test for voltage at the positive terminal. Yes it lights up when the starter button is pressed. I proceeded to test the negative terminal too, test light still connected to ground naturally expecting nothing to happen... bike starts. Test light supplied the ground connection.
So... "neutral safety switch" is the culprit?
Is this correct?
