Hey everyone I'm stuck and hoping someone on here can help.

My 1090rr has 26000 kilometers on it now and its starting to cut out on me while riding. I will try describe best what's happening.

Bike starts up fine and rides fine for probably the first 30 mins. Then all of a sudden it cuts out. Lose dash lights power everything. A second later it kicks back in and carries on working. Then a short time later it happens again but this time total loss of power and i have to pull over. Once stopped i turn the key off and back on and it's still dead. Can turn the key a dozen times and nothing! So i wait a couple of minutes and try again then it comes back to life and away i go bike works fine again until a few corners later and it happens again. This is now happening everytime i ride it. The bike shop has no idea. They tested the battery and it was fine. A few times it showed a "ENGINE FAULT CRANKSHAFT" warning on the dash but this only happend a few times and with a turn of the key the bike worked fine again. They said anything could be causing that fault to come up. I've noticed it tends to happen on deceleration? Battery terminals are all tight and battery if fine although its not the original battery. But like i said the shop says it's not the battery.

Anyway if you guys could throw all your knowledge and theories my way that would be great! Surely this has happend before somewhere out there. Also i might add the bike is factory standard no pc, original everything.

Thanks!

Sounds dangerous if your bike cut out whilst riding. Hate to have a truck behind you when it cut out. If the dash light, everything', has no power then my deduction says it's electric (power supply to the bike). Perhaps check all the earth connections, clean the battery terminals and tighten everything up, it sounds like when things are warmed up that a power connection (or relay) is affected somewhere. Good luck tracking it down.
