i am new here...obvioously. i have a really interesting question-feel free to laugh if you must.
I am researching a bike for my brother-It is a 1985, apparently Ducati, listed as a 600cc-Pantha motor.
I just ran a shallow VIN check and it said that the bike is a MV Agusta. I am new to this and a little confused. Can anyone help sort this out please? :)

I have a 1984 Pantah 650SL and it was the last of the Pantah's, a limited edition to homologate the 750 crank for racing in the TT's

1985 saw the transition of Ducati to Cagiva ownership (and Cagiva is now the holding company for MV Agusta, sometimes my MV F4 comes up on our DMV computers as a Cagiva)

some of the bikes from that year the 750F1, Cagiva Aluzurra were also referred to as Pantah's but really are very different bikes and do not share any similar body work are identical frames.

Those were strange days, but I would say it's all due to the Cagiva take over.
