Heard some good things about the Starlane. Also, heard a LOT of talk about some iPhone/Android based software lap timers.

I use the one on my i-phone but when I track my car, not the bike.

It has hundreds of tracks loaded worldwide and works perfect. It even shows where you are at the track, corner speed, etc, etc.

Harry's Lap Timer.

... but I do complement it with an external GPS connected to the iphone and its app called UltiMateGPS for more accuracy. You can use it without that but speed and position at the track are not 100% accurate.

that is what i heared about the iphone. i also fear that within a crash
(which unfortunately can happen) the iphone will be certainly broken,
while a pure laptimer hopefully survives.

I used my push bike Garmin GPS once and another time the Pirelli tracker app in Iphone.
I don't think the 2nd is that precise (particularly on lean angles, but it was flattering!) but gives an idea and allows to compare laps easily once uploaded on the website.
