Spotted this in the parking lot at my local friendly hardware store.
Thought it was some VW kit car at first, :wtf:
but then looked closer....:jsm:

Even if it is some kit, it's pretty dang cool ;)

It has to be a Beck Spyder. The cup holder, funky steering wheel, and extra gauges kinda gives it away. A real Porsche 550 is way north of $1.0M now. I'm thinking one doesn't drive his million dollar Spyder to the hardware store.

The Auto Zone drink holder and garage door openers made it look like a car that gets driven regularly....it was the badge on the front quarter panels that intigued me....and the Nurburgring badge on the engine cover grill. Has an "antique" auto license tag, too.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a pricey car in a parking lot in East Cobb. Routinely see exotic cars on pretty days.

So what does that badge on the front quarter panel say? I'm not familiar with this particular Porsche.

Karosserie Wendle Reutlingen was contracted by Porsche to build 550 bodies for the factory. They often sublet body construction to numerous small Karosserie such as Drautz and Reutter.

I was wrong on my price estimate. Recently a 550 Spyder sold for $3.6M.

A little bit of both......I know the differences between a '61, '62, and '63 Thunderbird.....and the first year of the 327 in a Corvette. Who needs that kind of info running around in their noggin?

Never seen it again, although there was a Lotus 7 parked at my favorite pub the other night....and I see a lot of various Ferraris, Lambos and such driving around lately.

That's because Ed moved to Snootyhootieville shortly after he married Pam.
