Just read an add in the AMC (Australian MotorCycle) mag, that says F4 1000S has 170HP.
I thought it was under 166HP?

Yep, with the free RG3 give a way...170 it is!
Um but, the add doesn't mention the RG3 at all.
Also when I was at the sydney motorcycle show, the MV salesperson told me that the RG3's were not longer included :)
So it must be a mis-print.

4 horse power could be due to a variation between dynos, test conditions, or bike models. I won't get 166hp each time and I suspect magazines would round off if it's 169.5. :)

They are qouting crank hp, and probably adding a few for the RG3.

Rear wheel hp will be 12-15% less due to drivetrain loss.
All manufacturers quote crank hp.

That artcicle I remeber., It did have an RG3 and chip. If you note Wootten's comment about the "fruity" noise, it is a give away.

The free RG3 was a promotion to move some S's before the R got here. Now the price of the S is dropped (by about the cost of an RG3). I hope this makes sense.

You are correct there, however I am only talking about an Advertisement.
(I should have stated that more obviously). :)
