Is there anyway we can do this ourselves or is it only done through the dealerships?

It is only done through the dealership. Proprietary software and expensive hardware...liability concerns, as well as EPA regulations.
That said, you can get ECU Studio and just do your own.

ECU studio. Just remember that once you load an ECU licence you can no longer map it at the dealer as it will overwrite your licence.

A lot of benefits come with ECU studio like blipper activation, exhaust servo delete etc. They make available all the race maps and all the OEM maps.

Software updates should be at no charge...but it will depend on your dealer I think. Some want to charge for anything. Contact MV Agusta and ask them.

Welcome to the family @Johnnycaker !!! Where are you located in these United States?

ECU map updates to the MV done by the factory are for unmodified ECUs, usually to improve drivability complaints.
Your ECU Studio mapping would negate any value a factory map update would provide, so no reason to even ask for it.
