PRESS RELEASE:

Team Liqui Moly MV Racing - Rd #7 SA Supersport Championships @ Zwartkops Raceway – Pretoria

31st August 2013 Zwartkops Raceway; Liqui Moly MV Racing – “Lap Record, double podium and extended championship lead for Petersen.”...

Practice: Friday practice was all about preparing the MV F3’s for the expected drop in temperatures for Saturday. With diminutive information to work with, championship leader Cam Petersen and his team mate Brent Harran worked intensively with the suspension specialist Martin Paetzold of MP Suspension. The short Zwartkops track proved to be a challenge as a clear lap was hard to find in the hustle and bustle of all trying to go fast. The team managed to get both their bikes out on a clear track and took full advantage of their set-up changes. Both bikes ran consistently in the top 3 and Brent Harran went fastest around the Zwartkops raceway in the final session.

Qualifying: Due to the expected cold weather, qualifying was replaced with a warming-up session and starting order would be determined by the championship standing, giving Cam Petersen an instant pole position for Race 1 and Brent Harran a front row P4. Cam Petersen clocked the fastest time in the warm-up session, with Brent Harran closely followed in P3.

Race 1: Strong and cold winds made the race unpredictable even before the lights turned green. Cam had a monster start and immediately took a demanding lead with Brent going in the reverse order by missing his momentum. Cam was able to pull a 2 second lead at the first part of the race as he started to encounter breaking problems. It was his former team mate Lance who overtook him in lap 4 and shortly after he dropped back to P3. Petersen had to work hard to maintain his third place with Harran having to work even harder to climb his way up the ladder.. In the last part of the race, Cam did the incredible by breaking the lap record of the Zwartkops Raceway and in doing so was able to minimize the damage for his championship lead and crossed the finish line in P3 with Brent Harran following in P4.

Race 2: The finishing order of Race 1 determined the starting grid of the second race with minute changes to both bikes done, Cam and Brent where on an attack strategy. Cam and Brent were able to maintain their position during the first half of the race in perfect team work. Halfway through the race the biggest championship contender Lance Isaacs on the ZX6RR started to encounter tire problems and both of the Liqui Moly MV riders were able to overtake Isaacs. Our MV duo crossed the line in P2 and P3.

After the champagne was sprayed by Cam and Brent in the cold afternoon, the team had managed to increase the championship lead to 37 points with just two rounds to go. Brent Harran also closed his gap to the third position in the championship standings.

Team principle Brad Anassis was very pleased with the outcome of the weekend. “We have defended our championship position and without taking any unnecessary risks, we have come one step closer to give the MV F3 its first ever championship. We are looking forward to the next round in Cape Town.

Anassis thanked, Liqui Moly and MV Cayenne, MP Suspension, Insurance Zone, Race!, Dynojet, NGK, RK Chain, Pirelli, SPY, Racer Zone, UD Middleburg, HJC, 3M, Lazarus Ford. A special shout out went to Dean with sadly leaves our team after this event. God speed Dean.

Overall Results:

2. Cam Petersen – Liqui Moly MV Agusta
3. Brent Harran – Liqui Moly MV Agusta

Pretty sad to post good news like this, and not even one F3 rider will comment on it, never mind all the other seasoned MV owners, great support guys.

Kinda like me....1.5 hours and off to run the Nukey Plant.

BTW, I am afraid to look at anything in the Race Category since I haven't watched the BGP yet.

This F3 owner is estatic that MV is enjoying success at any level.

The company can only build upon this for more sponsored racing in other series.

For a second year model, very positive indeed.

As for the other seasoned MV owners, is the F4 racing in anything at all?:naughty:

Thanks for the offer, Daniel. I had the race on the DVR and just needed the time to watch it...I did that this morning. The last lap was way too cool...how do you ride that fast, that close, at that lean angle!
