Hey all,

I have experienced on track for some time since last year that the quickshifter on my F3 800 RC (2018) really struggles quickshifting properly from 3rd to 4th gear when on wide open throttle and high revs.
Has anyone else experienced this? I remember it being very frustrating at trackdays always messing up the gearing on the straights. It's a bit hard to remember now, but I think it also messed up gearing with clutch when I tried that instead, as if the quickshift would somehow intervene with doing even that.
I would usually just end up riding 3rd gear way far out, or spending valuable straight-time fiddling with getting it to 4th that it would already be too late...

Could there be a calibration issue?

Quickshifting is never a problem on the road where I don't wring the neck of the bike quite as hard.
The bike is equipped with the RC ECU and mapped with the RC-map made for the SC Project slip-on.

Rode a F3 for the first time on the track, and experienced the same problem. Only from 3rd to 4th, all the other gears shift normally.
Do not know if it is the quick shifter, while I experience the same while shifting with the clutch.

Hope to find a solution because I did really like the F3 on track.

I found the same thing with the F4, heavy acceleration in 5th the QS would not always work. Added some time to the setting for high torque in 5th and became smooth again.

I have settings for the QS that are fairly universal for the road and track, the blipper though I have road settings that are less aggressive and allow a coast up to a junction and blip down, and a set for the track.

Yeah, since I got the ECU Studio kit incoming very soon I should be able to tinker with it a bit.
Will get back to this thread if/when I can solve it with qs-settings :)

At least "good" to know that it's not just my bike, Boone :)

Curious what you'll adjust. Please do keep us posted.

I did the first trackday with TV at the last weekend. Got the same problem when shifting from 4th to 5th gear. Several attempts just peaked revs against limiter and shifting did not happen. Seems to work when I dropped revs 6000-7000 rpms but not on the high rpms. Do you know if the QS unit is the same one in different three cylinder bikes (B3, F3, D3 TV)? I'm also curious to know if you can adjust QS without tools or do you need Ecu Studio?

Qs is the same. You cant adjust the settings without ecu studio. MV implemented the QS as most manufacturers do completely in the ecu with no external electronics

That’s a disappointment, guess I need to short shift from 3th to 4th then...

Should the problem also be solved when I switch the QS off and I shift without clutch?
Thank you for your input! Much appreciated

yes, if you back of the throttle do a clutch-less shift, it should be fine, if its not there is something else going on.

Had the same problem on my 2018 Brutale 800RR. ECUstudio fixed it. Had to nearly double the value for the quickshifter from 3rd to 4th.

I had the same issue at the track last time. I got some advice from a track junkie to change my oil after I changed my oil the problem has been solved. So it might be worth a try for you as well.

i found that it was very important to make sure the quickshifter rod was setup without any play (ie tighten all the nuts, make sure the rod aligns straight when viewed front to back and oil the little ball joints each side where the rod is clamped to the gear lever assy and to the gear linkage up top. )

I asked GRIMOTO from Italy if they ever had seen this problem. They told me to install a Valter Moto rearset. In most cases this will solve the problem, so I tried. The rearset not only looks beautiful on the bike, it did also solve the problem!

I would like to recommend GRIMOTO, they are really specialists on MV Agusta!

Indeed indeed, they are on my wish list. The kit looks awesome :)

I hear the setup of the linkage issues, but why does it only happen between 3rd and 4th? Is there something special on the shift drum that requires additional positive pressure between those gears that you can get away with on the other gears? My point is wouldn't you experience the QS not to work between 2nd and 3rd as well as between 4th and 5th if it is a linkage issue?
