There are a number of really fun mountain and range roads like the Gillies Highway and the road between Mossman and Mt. Molloy. Also if your timing is right you can get a good run at the Coastal Highway section up to Port Douglas without too much traffic, (nice section of twisties following the coastline). Some good lengthy runs through the Tablelands all round. The roads are in reasonable condition and if you head out on some of the less popular routes, the cops tend to thin out. Actually I think the best road as far as quality surface goes is the road up to Cooktown. Gets a little boring in places but whoever laid it knew what they were doing. Further down toward Townsville, there is also more quality range roads like Paluma. Downside of riding up here: cop heavy, often hot and people can't drive for shit.Opps didn't read where you were from Cairns hey, what's the riding like up there.
