F3 800 & BST Carbon wheels

1390 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Craigo F3 800
I love the look of the BST Carbon wheels and I'm considering getting some :mouthwate. So the question is, Matt or Gloss finish. At the moment I'm thinking gloss as easier to clean and looks great. The Matt does look very exotic though. As it's a 6" rear may consider going up a size in tyre.

Has anyone had any experience with BST wheels, pros & cons?

Had them on my R1. Loved them. They were a great weight saving on the bike back then. You will not save much weight now, but I think you still might notice it. Let me know.
As far as gloss or matte. Plan out what other carbon you might do in the future. You might not want to have some gloss parts and others matte. I know it is hard to see that far in the future. I have working on my bike for 7 years now. Doing little projects every spring. Just happened to come out OK by accident.
Nice add. I have found most CF bits with a gloss finish, very few with matte. As R1Andrew says, get what matches the rest of your pieces.

Post up the weights once you buy. I'm quite interested in seeing the difference.
The truth is that standard f3/b3 wheels are really heavy.
Other that the looks it will make an already sharp bike... behave like a moto2
I nevel liked bst's, I wait a few sets of PVM lightweight Y5 aluminium wheels for two F3s
CAG has a set on his Brutie, and they look fantastic. Are you lookin at five spoke or seven spoke?

They say the F3 can only take the 7 spoke which suits me as I think they look better. Would go the ceramic bearing too.
