For the mechanics on this forum...

I just installed my Quat-D mid-pipe and I'm left with a question!

Should I call in the national guard if I notice an exhaust leak?

The front joint of the mid-pipe (joining the headers) is pushing some air out.

Is this a serious concern or should I just fugettaboutit! Is there some power loss or does it sacrifice running effeciency? :)

is it where the two pipes connect or a falure in a weld. If its where they connect i have no idea how to fix that. If its where there is a weld then you can just have it welded for a few bucks...thats what i did

My leak is where the mid-pipe connects to the headers! Not on a weld.

Good weld job though.

have you tried hi-temp silicone seal? Its what we always used on the 2-stroke pipes connections. 2-stroke pipes don't get as hot as 4-stroke pipes, but, its suppose to be good up to 850 degrees.

Thanks guys!

But am I losing a lot by allowing a little bit of exhaust to escape prior to exiting the mufflers? Is it really that vital?

I doubt you're losing much performance, but, never did care for the sound of leaking exhaust... reminds me of an old beater.

Might also contribute to afterfire pops and bangs in the exhaust when trailing throttle or under decel.
