Do you hear the pump prime with the key on?

In my previous post I’m referring to the internal fuel hoses. The most common problem is eroded Hoses from ethanol. The one attached to the pump can pop off. Open your cap and have a look inside as you try to start it. Should be evident by looking but not always. When were the fuel hoses changed along with the filter?

If you are in need of hoses Chuck has them at cost. Be sure to put your battery on the charger for a good bit.

yes it does prime, no, i had the plastic quick fitting under the tank break so I had to change them.
I havent had a chance to mess with it (happend last Sept) just trying to know where to start looking.

It is the hose from the pump has come off....I will almost gaurantee it. Many threads about this. I have had it happen on both my 901R and my F4.

Pretty sure these guys have you covered as to the cause.
When you are ready to tackle the job let me know and I'll get you the parts you need.
When you do go into the tank, be sure to cut a little barb into the Fuel Pump Outlet Pipe to aid retention going forward.

Ok I looked and saw a 2-3" section of hose coming from the base of the tank, unconnected, couldn't see where it connects is that it? is there supposed to be a clamp?
SO do I just push it back on?

Ill look in the archive for more info. does anyone have a Diagram handy?

what level PITA is this?

It's an easy job..... and a better clamp is needed, something better than the clic-r clamp that came from the factory.
Don;t forget to get a new pump plate o-ring....

There are probably a hundred threads on this.
Part 15 has probably popped off. You need to replace, at the minimum, the circled components.

And a new fuel filter if it hasn’t been done in a while. Check the mesh under the pump. All standard stuff. No PITA.

No, that hose is fine. It usually hose 15 leading to the top of the pump. Keep in mind the hoses might have gummed up to the point of splitting from ethanol in gas. When did you last have the hoses changed? Normally they need changing 3 to 4 years as a regular expendable. Same with the fuel filter.

Not to encourage spending money but Risk Racing has a 5 gallon container I found to be a breeze to use. Drained my full tank last night to tackle a valve gasket change. Love that container! It’s sitting now with the gas until all is reassembled. 2 weeks out or so.

Another tip: get heavy cloth for padding. Find an old milk crate. Line the edges with the cloth. They make perfect tank stand / holders. If you can find an old wire one they are the best.

so #23 shouldn't be connected to anything??
That is correct. That hose is the Fuel Return Line through the Fuel Pressure Regulator. It why fuel moves in your tank when the Fuel Pump is running.

That’s correct. It’s apart of the low fuel indicator.
Sorry Ed, it is not...see above....;)
