Hello all. Im fitting a 06 R engine, wiring harness and ecu to my f4 1000 s. Im told I wont be using the ebs valve but there is a pipe coming from the bell mouths on the R engine thats the same as the S bell mouths for the ebs valve. Will I still have the ebs valve on the R engine? Any help would be very welcome. Cheers.

Who told you that you will not be using the EBS valve, how else does the EBS on the R work then, you don't need the old EBS relay though.
Best you go through the manuals yourself and it will all become clear.

Yes, there is a take off stub on # 2 intake for the ebs valve. The difference between the 1000R and 1000S is that the R dispenses with the infamous EBS Relay which was prone to damage if over-cooked :jsm:

The ebs valve on the R is controlled by the ECU.

There is probably no secondary air system on your year of R . I believe that arrived 2007. You do have a cam position sensor .

Have a look at the Cam chain tensioner. If it is a silver one then it is worthwhile up grading it to a black bodied sensor ( silver ones have been known to partially fragment themselves ).

I have a 2006 F4 1000r cylinder head spare here which I keep as a pet lol Comes in useful for this kind of discussion :)

Good advice Joe.
Thanks very much lads, that cleared that up. There is a secondary air system, well at least I think there is, there are 2 caps with spouts on the rocker cover which I assume are for piping up secondary air valve, am I right? If im right does the 3rd pipe connected to the air valve go to the air box? Sorry for my ignorance.

Yes it does, one pipe goes L/H side (EBS ) and the other goes R/h side of the airbox. If it where me, blank the shit of. One of the forum Vendors sell nice blank plates.
EBS Valve takes filtered air from L/s of the airbox. This passes thru the ECU controlled EBS Valve and into a stub pipe on # 2 intake.

Secondary air takes filtered air from R/s of airbox it passes through the ECU controlled 2ndary air valve and is fed into the left and right side reed valves pipes in the valve cover.

Crank case breather pipe enters airbox at the rear centre pipe after the filter.

Thanks very much jo, im just wondering if you're the man I bought the engine and loom from, I lost his contact details and would love to get in contact again ?

Brendan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where ya been !!!

Yes that is me. :) I've been trying to get hold of you too... I have some useful documention including dyno work that was done on the engine

and yes your engine is an F1000 312R . It does have a secondary air system...

If you email me or pm me your phone number I'll help you all I can.

It's real nice to hear from you Brendan...

Brendan, I replied to your email, post some pics if you can please.
Agustabull go download the 312R parts manual from Donsy's website and check section G13...it will show you how the EBS sits as well as the secondary air valve

Also if you're keeping the secondary air valve you'll need to drill a second hole in your 1000S airbox and use connector part 8000A3709 to connect up the rubber hosing...section E02 of the aforementioned parts manual...
