yeah, that was a GREAT season all together.

roadracing world had a very in-depth interview with edwards about one of the races that year (can't remember which) but it was something about colin putting together a bunch of "perfect" laps. he was in the zone. what i remember most about the story what colin's comments to the effect that even though he was FLYING, he felt like time was on slow-motion. everything felt super slow and almost easy.

so, if you want to go fast, you gotta slow it down.

Amazing stuff, thanks for posting it,- I'd forgotten what year that was. That last lap was probably one of the greatest ever in motorsports! Remember that Edwards only needed to finish second in that race to win the championship,- if he had fallen off, he would have lost the championship....AND HE STILL WENT FOR IT!! Fantastic!

The same weekend, Schumacher in the Ferrari pulled over on the last lap to allow Barrichello win the Indy F1 race. Afterwards, some of the team owners apologized saying that their sport was a disgrace, especially considering the epic battle in SBK.

Such a bummer that Edwards really hasn't risen to the challenge in MotoGP.
