Dymag carbon wheels vs. BST

I was going to ask this in the BST thread, but I figure I'll ask here.

Dymag also makes carbon fiber wheels for the MV. Anyone care to elaborate on why all the controversy is on the BST wheels and not Dymag? Is this simply because we don't have pictures of a shattered Dymag wheel floating around?

I also think the Dymags are heavier, but I don't have any numbers to confirm this. But they also claim to meet some standards for road use just as the BST wheels do.

5 Spoke (same as the Ducati ones I believe):

3 Spoke:

I'm not trying to start some contest here about who knows what and why, and why one is better than the other or whatever. I mainly want to know why all the talk is about BST and not Dymag. I'm guessing it's because the BSTs are lighter or are just more popular for whatever reason...

Thanks.

The dymags felt heavier when I compared the two at Laguna two years ago. I think most of that weight is in their machined Al hub (seems a bit bulky). I think the BST's use better construction methods than Dymag. Also dymag built a poor reputation in the US with their old distributor which nearly killed the brand here. There was a point in time where I couldn't get any positive replies about the Dymag brand. If I were to choose, it would be BST.
