Card is behind the bar so what you all having.

Hi, I have been visiting this site along with a few other forums for a while now and by far this one seems to be the most friendly. Perhaps this is because it is dedicated to one make of bike, and in my recently changed opinion, the best bike.

I passed my test a little while back, and i bought myself a Husqvarna TE570 supermoto, had it a two days and it blew up :-( rebuilt it and kept it for about a month before listing it on ebay where i was approached by several people wanting swaps. After several offers i took a guy up on the offer of a 2001 R1, it was a minter, just different exhausts. I loved it, but found it uninspiring, and like so many other bikes out there. I fancied a change, something a little different, so I put it on Ebay. Again i was offered lots of swaps, then i got a interesting offer, a guy from VisorDown with a Ducati 916 with slipper clutch, termi's etc etc. I done the deal. I was over the moon. I loved the bike. Igot my knee down for the first time on it with out expecting to and it filled me with confidence from day one. Anyway, a few months went by and i wanted a bit more power. I didnt really want an R1 back abd was looking at 999 etcs. Then I came across you guys & the legendary MV F4. It was a bit of a pipe dream and a bike that i knew i had to have at some point. Then whilst flicking through ebay came across one, it was an F4 1000s, brand new from DK motorcycles. £10k. I rang them and they offered me 3k for mine and finance for the rest. JOB DONE! I wanted to keep it a secret from my best mate, who also is in to bikes but i couldnt and told him. He was also thinking about changing bikes and has loved the F4 for years, I told him about my deal and in his words, 'it would be rude not too have one'. So my mate, DJT77, and myself are now the proud owners of two MV F4 1000's and I have never been so happy with a single purchase in my whole life :yo: !!! I just cant stop looking at it. :)

You may have already seen the pics that he has posted, mine is a nero and his is the Red/Silver. I have just put clear front and rear lights in and put intergrated rear indicators in it which look absolutly awesome imho.

However, i am still a little ignorant to some topics of upgrading it etc. Which is where i would like some advice of you more experienced and knowledgeable guys/galls.
I have purchased a power commander for it, not on it yet as im gonna wait for the first service, but whats the difference between one of these PCIII's and an eprom? these are for sale on ebay and I wondered if its only worth having one or the other, or if both could help in different ways?
Also, does anyone have a quickshifter fitted. Do these help massively/ work effectively?

Anyway, sorry for the long intro, enjoy your drinks and it would be cool to meet up with some of you at some point.

Cheers.
Richard

Welcome to the forum Richard, your story is not uncommon with many bike owners who trade and swap their way to the ultimate machine, and congratulations on the Nero.
My advice would be to spend the first 1000 odd Kms getting to know your new bike and hold off modifications until you can pinpoint the reason as to why you need them.
The F4 is a ferocious machine in so many ways, and will delight you in its flexability, not to say that some monifications wont improve the bike, but just take time to adjust to the MV and its power delivery.

I would recomend RG3 open exhausts and the installation of a mid pipe removing the cat converter as the greatest improvement you can make off the shelf, comes with a new eprom, and will give you about 3-5 rear wheel hp in the usable range of between 5000 - 7000 rpm, and it sounds just amazing!

I did this on my F4s at its 1000km service and I would rate this as the best modification on offer.

The new R F4 has a flash eprom which can be reprogrammed, but your F4s has the removable eprom 'chip' which is unique for the changes you may make.

Simple sort of reply as I know you will get heaps of other very knowledgable responses to your questions...
Again...welcome

Welcome!

I noticed you as a new registrant earlier (or showed up somewhere as being online or something).

Is that your registration for the bike! Very cool to have gotten that if so. I kinda miss the fun with reg numbers from when I was in London.

ahhhh....anyway.... no such fun with tags here, its just some characters I can't read and some random numbers.

welcome again to the group.... i'll hit you up for the drinks next time i'm out that way. :naughty:

Thanks for all the replys guys, some useful info there.

Spalding12, Im in the process of sticking the pics on now, but have my boss on my left and i think he's had enough of seeing big pics of MV's everywhere. I'll do it soon tho!

Agusta01, I have heard a lot about these pipes sounding awesome and being the ones to have, not sure i can afford new ones just yet tho, however the midpipe to lose the cat sounds like a good idea, but as you say, i'll wait for a while and get use to the bike, its awesome as it is and is plenty quick enough, i just feel that its been suffocated to comply with all the emission laws etc, thanks for all the info tho, its very helpful.

TokyoLunch, awesome looking bike mate, that looks absolutely stunning. Its amazing the MV, no matter what colour scheme i've seen it in it always looks wicked. Testiment to the designer i guess.
As for my number plate, its not mine yet, but i want it, just cant afford at the moment. Thanks for the welcome and i'll look forward to a beer with you all.

Good luck getting the Reg....that would really be sweet to have that on there!

My personal favorite (of course, I left just before I could think about it) would have been BO 55 MAN. haha.... i would have gone out to buy a Vespa just to put that on! :naughty:

Anyway, good to have you on board....thanks for your compliment on my ride. Stick around...you'll see all sorts of whackiness coming out of this part of the world as far as color schemes and special editions go! :wtf:
