Very recently the bike has gone from a good starter, to very hit and miss.

I have done a bit of reading about other members problems which seam to be about a poor battery.

I drop tested the voltage across the poles with the starter, and not brilliant, but not too bad.

This is how my starting procedure now goes.

Press the fob for the Meta 357MT v2 and indicators flash once and a bleep.

Turn on ignition, wait for dash checks to complete. No priming of fuel pump anymore, press starter.....nothing. Absolutely dead.

Repeat above a few times and then it cranks strongly and starts.

Sometimes I can hear the alarm unit clicking loudly, and it will start after that.

Other times if you press the starter while the dash is doing its checks it cranks and starts, but not if you let it complete. Strange.

I accept that I am probably due a new battery, but it has plenty of mojo when it does crank. Drops from 13.7 v to 10.7 when cranking and fires on second crank.

I,ll check all earths etc this weekend and look for the obvious. Ie loose connections,

I suspect it could be the Meta playing up, maybe not getting any power. Maybe a poor internal battery. Anyone had a similar experience or similar symptoms.

It hasn't been a problem at the track as it can always get home in the van, but I don't trust the bike to go on a ride if it fails to start when away from home.

Apologies for the length of the post, just trying to explain it clearly

Cheers

Lose the alarm Russ. This is my opinion and seems to be the consensus on here too.

These bikes require an absolutely tip top battery...If it is an old battery think about losing that too and fitting a new one.

I like the idea of removing the Meta as my insurance doesn't insist on one.

Any idea how involved it is too remove or are we looking at an alarm specialist with the wiring diagram. I know meta don't like anyone except approved fitters to have sight of these for obvious reasons .
