Anyone else have their steering stop bend or crack? I was surprised that it cracked on the right stop tab as opposed to the left stop, which is the side the wheel turns when on the side stand.

Also, anyone have a line on a replacement? Looks like it's no longer available and unfortunately the F4's are not interchangeable.

Mine we're both sheared off in a crash, had them welded and I filed them down.

Just curious, but didn't the bearing mounts on the stem take damage as well? i've seen cracks there as well follwing a crash and those seem a bit troublesome to weld.

Stem was untouched externally did replace bearings with tapered.

I've had one cracked....after it got a whack when I fell down. :bawling:

The aluminum stop on the steering stem takes the damage, and the steel frame goes unscathed. Replaceable part, so that's a good thing.

The F4 part has less steering lock, meaning the handlebars do not move as far side to side. It will bolt on no problem, but you will notice your bike can't be turned as sharply in a circle when pushing it around.

You could take the F4 part and mill off a bit of material on each side and duplicate the B4 part. :idea:

Isn't that piece still in use on later models??? MV doesn't always interchange part numbers to older bikes when a change is made. Radiator caps on early F4s as example. Still available, but you need to order the part number for the later similar model. The older model parts catalog doesn't show the new number.

Seems like the Mv frames are one up on the others then. Saw a friends S1000RR and when he broke the stops the stem shaft on the frame also took damage. luckily for him it was only on the bottom and he is going to have it built up by a local welding company. They at least X-ray the welds so that at least ensures the weld is up to scratch.
