Count me in (pics added)

After almost 2 years, I have finally gotten my Brutale. I test rode it at the time and it has been on my mind ever since. Since I already own a Ducati, I did not want to spend much in buying the Brutale, and an opportunity presented itself yesterday and I picked up a Black '04 with 8k miles for almost half the price of a new one.

I totally love this bike! Thanks to all who contribute in this forum as I have learned much from it, I will be reading more of the archives as time goes forward.

I do have some questions, hopefully someone might help:

1) The throttle is extremely sensitive. I notice it takes a quarter turn to fully open it. Since my bike is "pre-owned" is a quarter-turn really stock? Most of my other bikes are somewhere between a quarter and half turn to full throttle.

2) The spring on the rear shock of my bike is Blue. I seem to recall seeing other Brutale's with a yellow rear spring... is my blue one stock or after-market?

3) It appears my low-fuel light is not working, as I learned this the hard way in the middle of a freeway ride yesterday. Common?

4) Where can I get a workshop manual without paying so much at the dealer?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

1) see my sig for the FAQ entry on removing one of the throttle springs and see how you like it. It's easily reversible. The throttle is sensitive and any fuelling out of tune doesn't help things. You develop a very sensitive throttle hand eventually but should think about a base tune :)

2) I believe stock for the year

3) Seemed to happen more regularly to people after our ethanol mix came to the US but no it's not common

JamesC - I did try modifying the Throttle return spring as indicated in your site. It's a very welcome improvement, easy and best of all free ... thanks for sharing such a great resource.

Thank you for the warm welcome, I hope to share some pics very soon. I just need to clean her up a bit as I'm ashamed to show it off in such miserable condition. I have been working on it, and is beginning to look very good though :D

Some pics of my newly aquired Brutale S along with my 749R - in the "dark" suit (sorry for the many pics, but I couldn't resist taking so many)...

They are both model year 2004 750cc bikes from Italia, but that's where their similarities end. They are opposites in almost every other way.
