OK so yesterday in the Leisure Centre in my home town was a large display of mainly 70's classic racing motorcycles.

In Northern Ireland we are motorcycle mad!...and our races take place on the public roads...(Cookstown 100..,Tandragee 100..,NW 200..UGP..etc)

In the 70's there were two 'rival' teams or groups of riders that dominated road racing here.

They were the 'Dromara Destroyers' comprising of ..;
Ray McCullough
Ian McGregor
Brian Reid
Trevor Steele

And the 'Armoy Armada'...comprising of...;
Joey Dunlop
Jim Dunlop
Mervyn Robinson
Frank Kennedy

see here....http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/northern-ireland/14594888

Anyway as the little town of Dromara is only a few miles from Lisburn (where I live)....the Dromara Destroyers put on this show each year in our Leisure centre.

I went along to have a look yesterday.
So here is a trip back to the 70's along with some other bikes on display.:)

The first photo Up is of the Legendary Ray McCullough (you'll recognise him from the link above).
He beat the then world champ Phil Read around the UGP course when it was a round of the World Championship.
A lovely and very humble man who I am proud to know as a friend and have been out on rides with.

Last Batch

Here are some from the last batch..there was a lot to see!
And a really nice hand written letter from the Legendary and sadly no longer with us Steve Hyslop (Hizzy) regarding his crash helmet which he'd previously passed on to one of the vendors there.
