I've got a friend here who can make carbon goodies. I was thinking of getting him to take a mould of my black exhaust tips and do a set, I don't think it will save a heap of weight but i think it would look cool.

Question 1. Can anyone see a technical problem with this idea?

Question 2. Am I just getting carried away, wanting to carbon everything?

Also, the guys at Casoli do an RG3 conversion sort of thing, I think they just drill out the 4 little internal pipes in the exhaust and put in bigger diameter pipes but I'm not sure, if i could find the correct diameter and length for the RG3 internal pipes I'd be keen to do it myself. Does anyone have any idea how big these pipes are?

Carbon can break down with heat, so if he's doing it with wet layup he should choose a resin that can handle the heat. Even with that, carbon as a can usually breaks down over time anyway.

If it's pre-preg, I have no experience with it really, but I ASSume there are pre-pregs made for heat resistance too.

It'd probably look pretty cool!

I saw carbon tips at the bike show here on Hayden's AMA race Kawasaki that was on exhibit.
Also my Casoli pipes are carbon (except for the tips, in this case).
