Guys
<O:p</O:p
I'm restoring an old 1980's Classic Enduro bike and need to get hold of some NOS rear shock absorber rubber bump stops..
<O:p</O:p
I can't buy the actual genuine bump stops from the manufacturer, as they aren't available separately and the shock absorbers are also unobtainable.
<O:p</O:p
So I'm putting a call out to you guys in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
</st1:country-region>US, <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pAustralia or even South Africa, </ST1:p</st1:country-region>who have some contacts in the classic Enduro bike circles that could possibly help me out here.:)

<O:p</O:p
This is the sort of thing I'm looking for.. I think these are for an early Maico Moto-crosser model.
<O:p</O:p
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
<O:p</O:p

Cheers<O:p</O:p

Arrrrr.. You almost caught me out there Noel... But not quite:)(our little guessing game “Quiz” on the UK MV Forum)

Yes, I am after a pair of rubber bump stops for this restoration that I've almost finished putting together.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

The original shocks are KYB, but I can’t find anyone in the UK <ST1:p</ST1:pthat does parts for these vintage shocks..

<O:p</O:pMy best bet is either the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
</st1:country-region>USA or <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pAustralia</ST1:place</st1:country-region> where these bikes were more popular.

<O:p</O:pThat’s why I’ve put a call out to you guys to see if you can help me out, as I’m stuck and can’t get any headway in finding some NOS rubber bumper stops for these KYB shocks..

<O:p</O:pHave you any contacts out there Noel in the Japanese Vintage Enduro/MX game ?<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

Cheers<O:p</O:p

Hey Noel

<O:p</O:pIt is possible to do me a favour and have you contact them over there to see if they stock a pair of bump stops for the shock on a 1981/82 Suzuki PE400X ..

<O:p</O:pThe <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
</st1:country-region><ST1:pUK </ST1:pdistributor that's listed on the web site link doesn’t hold much KYB parts or stock any NOS parts for the older vintage Enduro/MX models..

<O:p</O:pI did find another dealer on Google that might be able to help out, but they're in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Australia</st1:country-region> and it’s not cost effective to call them from the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pUK</ST1:p</st1:country-region>..

If there are any Australian forum members that could do me the honour and drop them a call, I would be grateful.

<O:p</O:pHere is the web link for the dealer: http://www.suspensionshop.org/VMX-Suzuki.php<O:p</O:p

I’d would do the same and have in the past for other forum members that need stuff here in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:pUK</st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region w:st="on"></st1:country-region>
<st1:country-region w:st="on"></ST1:p</st1:country-region><O:p</O:pCheers Guys<O:p</O:p

Hi Noel

The Suzuki PE400’s came standard with KYB 572 rear shocks.

The only part numbers I have to go by is the original OEM reference numbers.

The OEM part number for this Suzuki rear shock is 62103-40900.

Do you reckon you might have a contact for these rear shock bump stop rubbers ?

Please post any links you find on ebay that might be bump stop rubbers suitable from these KYB 572 shocks..

Cheers for your help
John

Hi Noel
<O:p</O:p
I was hoping someone on the forum who was around in the old days and grew up around the dirt track scene might still have some contacts..

<O:p</O:pI can’t do better than supply the KYB shock type, the year and OEM part number… That’s all I have and thought it would have been sufficient to point someone in the right direction.
<O:p</O:p

The original bump stops on the old Suzuki PE KYB shocks are similar to the ones you sent on those EBay links, but instead of them being flesh coloured, they are black.. ( see examaple below)

<O:p</O:pI’ll try and send the suspension specialist in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
<ST1:pAustralia </ST1:p</st1:country-region>an email and see if they can help out..

Thanks anyway Noel.. <O:p</O:p

Cheers Noel

Yeah, I emailed Ed a couple of weeks back.. He was the first person I showed the pictures of the almost finished PE400X.

Ed knows that I'm still after a few bits for this PE restoration, but I don't think he can help out because he's more into the new stuff..

I was also hoping he knew one of the Suzuki dealerships that was around in the old days when they sold these bikes in the 80’s and might still have an NOS sales brochure in their files and willing to sell it on. No luck as yet..

Ed has managed to put me in touch with a few Yamaha dealers in the US that stock rare NOS parts, which is cool !

I’ve heard back from the Suspension Specialist in Australia and unfortunately, they don’t stock any KYB parts.. They did say in their email that these bump stops are still available from Suzuki… I have a NOS parts manual here for the PE400, and there’s no separate listing for the rear shock bump stops. Weird ?

If they are still available from Suzuki.....

Ed shouldn't have any trouble getting them, given that's who he works for

John, did you manage to sort this ? I don't know if they are still there but somewhere in or near Portsmouth was a bike place that bought loads of old Yamaha parts, I was last there about 1987 though...

Hi Richard

How are you keeping ?... Sorry it's taken me a few days reply to this post, but my head has been on other things..

My wife is in hospital after undergoing quite a serious operation and you can imagine where my thoughts have been..

Anyway,.... Yamaha.. I'm still in the process of stripping the bike down and luckily have managed to find a load of NOS parts on the USA Fleebay.

My friend in the USA has kindly allowed me to use his place as a drop off delivery address for all the parts I've bought.. (he's a member on this forum, but I honestly don't know his ID and only know him as Tony.. He's a top guy and I consider him a good friend, even though we have never met).

I want to finish this PE400 first before I really sink my teeth into the Yamaha project..

Cheers anyway for getting in touch and I'm sure I will need some help further down the line.

PS: Ed... If you're reading this, please can you see if you can get hold on a proper factory workshop manual for this 1981 PE400X.. I'm having hassle with the carb and would appreciate buying a proper Slowsuki workshop manual for this model.

Cheers
J
