Normal faults: - Hub, headlight, gearbox spring, hot starting, hair trigger throttle (std. ecu). Mine's dropped a couple of coils over the years. Present battery (Yuasa) is almost 3 years old. Commute it, tour it and have done a couple of track days. 50 000k up now. Run a Microtec from Chris which fixed the fueling (eventually). Been as, or more reliable than some others I've owned. Still loving it after 7 years ownership.

Yep, pain in the arse round town and on the road until you get the suspension sorted a bit. As I said Microtec fixes it, although it's an expensive solution.

They didn't and yes. A mate had a 2014 1090 and that wasn't much better.

I see this is an old post, did you eventually purchase a 1078RR

I am up in Perthshire and at present looking for another MV after 4 years away from biking. I am also looking / interested in a Brutale 1078/1090, I am willing to travel anywhere in UK for this class of bike depending on mileage and condition.

How are you finding your present Brutale? after 3- F4's and back and neck pains, I am hoping the Brutale will slow me down more than the F4 would

Initially I was concerned with new Scottish emission regulations but guess I will just stay well away from city driving

I have been putting enquiries in at Cupar Motorcycles, Bennet's, and the usual autotrader searches but no success as of yet, if you have any pointers I would appreciate

My 1078 brutale is perfect on fuelling ,after spending Dollars , Personally i would go for the early 1090 rr ,by memory the black motor , around 2010 to 2012 ,they are the best built .If you are tall the 1090 is the way to go . My mate has the 1090 rr and i have the 1078 rr , both are great bikes , no snatchy throttle on either bike . Out of the box you will have less issues with the 1090 .

Less issues maybe but not quite the charisma Eddy. Don't like the finish on the 1090.

Saw a bloke in a servo filling up a 750 (Brutale) years ago when they would've been pretty new at the time (I had an XB9r Buell then) . Had a chat to him and he was happy with it. Loved the looks. Quite a few years later I rode a 920 and was hooked. Used to go on a lot of test rides back then and was impressed by a very few. The MV 750 blew me away. Patience and budget rewarded me with my 1078.

I tested the new Buell at the time (XRc?) and loved the performance and handling. Awesome motor (Rotax), but plug ugly, couldn't trade just on the looks with those big crab claws plus the XB9R wasn't the handler they were touted to be. Not in the same league as an MV without serious dollars spent.

They are lighter ,and quick to turn in , not as top heavy as the 1078rr , I actually loved riding it .

Eddy, I'll bow to your superior knowledge. I'm keen on the Lusso scs for my next bike but wont part with my 1078RR.
