That NOCO charger will automatically put itself in the desired mode.
You need to understand that simply because the battery indicates "Fully Charged" does not mean that you should take it off the charger and go riding.
All batteries require a directed overcharge period. For Lea-Acid that desuflates the cells, for Lithium it provide cell balancing.
If you want that battery to last and perform well, it needs an equalizing charge (24 hours) an, because it is lithium, it should be maintained between 35% and 100% of charge where 75% is optimum for long term storage.
Damn, understood. Thanks! I have put it back to charge last night

Smart charges can and do over heat. Like anything electronic a gremlin can visit. If the charging process is taking abnormally long the ‘smart’ charger needs to be reset. Means unplug and plug in again. I’m done.

I own a 22 Rosso and had battery issues since last May. Turns out theres a gps tracking device in the bike in the event it gets stolen (you have to activate a subscription to actually get use out of it) which was draining the battery and the stock battery is not sufficient to keep a charge. Ask your dealer if they disconnected it (assuming you don’t want to use the service, it’s free for the first year but you have to pay maybe $60 a year after that). If you do want to keep it connected then you’ll need a better battery. A lot of great advice on here but I don’t know how many people that put in input have a 21 or newer bike.

I thought the bike has some feature like that. Is it the Mobistst? Is it on even when bike is turned off?

Yes! The mobistat. From what my dealer told me, it will continue to function when the bike is off. I believe there is thread on here somewhere. A dealer in Texas first diagnosed the issue

Good info about the GPS, I've been using Shorai lithium batteries for 13 years, they are great batteries and you can purchase their special charger (which I hardly ever use), but it's a pita to use because you have access the built in battery connection on the top front of the battery.
Anti-Gravity makes a cool battery that when it is drained down it shut it's self off and has a special button to press for a last start.
Just try to find the biggest amp hour battery that will fit in the battery box.

Good lucky and hopefully you won't have anymore issues.

@katoomed00 just leave the pigtail plugged into your shorai. Run it to the outside for easy access. That’s how it’s designed to be used no matter which bike it’s on. No PITA.

Hello!!
It is NOT an issue.
It is a great safety characteristic that I think can be easily turned off.
If you own an Mv it means somehow you have means and surely you keep it in a garage ( being a piece of art🤣🤣🤣).
Therefore you are supposed to keep it tender at all times when not in use.
When I will get mine (by the end of the month!!!!) I will have the gps disconnected and I will hide an AirTag on the bike so I can have a great piece of mind of the whereabouts of it.
Does anybody knows how to disconnect the gps/ tracking system?
Thank you

The top bracket that holds the battery in place has to be removed in order to plug in the connector on my bikes, so
for me it is a pita

No it doesn’t. The charge connection for your bike is in the right hand side just above the cylinder head.

@katoomed00 Do you need the top bracket? I dont have such on the B4. The lightweight battery is simply held securely with block of Shorai supplied foam.

@silentservice703 we are talking about a dedicated Shorai connection not the standard MV cable.

@silentservice703 this thread is confusing several battery types. Shorai has NOTHING to do with Noco. Shorai should never have been introduced into this thread and really should be deleted. Leave Noel RIP, but he always liked a good fight with MV Muppets. LOL

The Shorai is Lithium, Noco/Genius is a Lithium capable charger. Those two are compatible and ther need not be a specific Shorai charger.

Turns out Shorai changed their specs to include standard lead-acid chargers as a possible charging solution in pinch. In the past they only recommended their own chargers or hell fire would rain. Lots of old info out there even with gangs of muppets. I’ll keep using the Shorai charger since it’s been good since 2011 that’s 5 years pasts the reported average 7 year lifespan. All that said the Noco product range sure do look swell. Yapping Muppet Out!

The Shorai specific charger plugs into a port that is recessed in the center of the battery. That charger charges and monitors each cell individually. It is by far and away the best way to charge a Lithium battery, but most Li batteries do not provide that option. For motorcycles I have only seen Shorai with a cell specific charger available.

The Noco and Optimate and MV Li charger will be fine, and use the pigtail that MV supplies...BUT if you have a Shorai and their charger that is definitely the way to go.

I would think that the recessed port would allow the upper bracket to be installed once the charger lead is plugged in. The lead could then be routed out to a convenient location, as suggested by @EBBO. Just have to take off the bracket one time to access the port.
