Anyone have experience with Vemar VSREV Italia or other "Italian" helmet design?

Hi -

I just got my Brutale and thought I'd celebrate with a new helmet. I do not want a Snell 2005 certified helmet, and prefer a DOT, ECE 22.05, or Snell 2010 standard helmet.

I've seen some comments on the Vemar Italia, which is ECE 22.05 certified, but I'm having trouble finding one in my size (M). I went to the dealer's website, but they want a 20% restocking fee if the size doesn't fit. I understand their policy, but it seems a bit steep for a 5 minute tryout if the size isn't correct. I've heard that the helmets seem to run bigger than normal (a Vemar M is closer to a L in other brands) I'd like to know if anyone has experience with this helmet and if you have, are you satisfied with the brand? Also, does it run larger than normal?

Anyone with experience in other brands in "Italy" colors, your comments are welcome and invited.

Thanks in advance.

Nothing like an excuse to get a new helmet!! I have had one of the AGV Ti Tech's - Italian colours for over 12 months. http://www.rocketclothing.co.uk/prod_1812

I have a silver mirror visor, which looks kinda trick...

The helmet has been great - I have a very tight fitting S/M - and fined the helmet very narrow.

Have tried on a Shoei x12 lately - and found ti fits me sssoooo well - http://www.atlanticmoto.com/acatalog/Atlantic_Moto_Shoei_X_12_Streamliner_TC_4_Helmet_1047.html

I also am thinking about getting this lottle number for when the weather turns warm here again!!

Enjoy shopping around - great to choose from (the Bells' are getting good reviews)

Hey Luke, awesome helmet choices, the little Italia open face look the biz. I have to admit I LOVE open faces & have two of them:

A Momo, this one:

And a Davida , this one:

What you find is that at higher speeds the one you are considering (basically same shape as the Momo) will get very awkward. I wore the Momo on the F4 and about 120kph sees it outside your comfort zone - btw that's my Vespa helmet & is brilliant for that.

The Davida I wear with goggles (Nanini) on my classic MVs and it works brilliant, even wore them on the F4 and seem ok to about 180kph.

Just a few things you may want to consider :)

Len - I just purchased a new Tri-coloure Arai (Quantum Flag series)

Excuse the crap photo from my phone, the Arai web site has a much better quality - but at least you can see it with a dark visor.

Vsrev

:)HI
YES I have a Vemar vsrev in the flag colours, think it's in gallery,it is the best fitting helmet I have owned todate, very little movement or squish even at high track speeds also have rf1100, but it is the vemar that is pulled on for any Sunday scratching in the twisties or Trackdays , always meant to buy the carbon model ,Have no reason to think there is any size worries as I am normally a 55-56 and the "S" fits perfect,
Here is My observation Different helmets will give a changing perception of noise or ressistance according to the angle of approach or as we would call it riding position so a brutal rider or more upright bike may not find the same result as a prone (F4 ) positioned rider wearing the same lid.
