I'm in the south of England but wondering what UK owners are members and if an annual MV meet up would be on the cards or is already a regular thing?

#3 ·
Been an owner/member here since 2006, as yet have not heard of 1 meet in the southeast, or at least close enough to not to spend 1/2 day sitting on the MV. Would like a local meet, in the summer of course lol.

Half a day sitting on the MV sounds good to me ;) I know what you're saying though. Where in UK are you? Might see if we can find out the geography of the UK members from the forum staff and find the most central point for everyone to meet, subject to a good riding route and meeting place.... Now is the time to start thinking of getting organised for a summer ride/meet...

I'm 2.5 hours from Heathrow, maybe less :)

We should think of a doing a meet, as soon as we get some good weather.

I'm in Snowdonia, right on the West coast in Aberdyfi. I'm used to riding 3 hours solid to get to civilisation (Birmingham straight across is easiest - although it is arguable if Yam Yam country is civilised...) so willing to meet West Midlands way. We do have the best roads here though and more than willing to meet somewhere in Wales to direct / guide.

I'm down towards south wales Monmouth. Rather than a ride, a few rides around the country is probably an easier ask.
IF we're going to do a weekend break or a longer ride over a few days to accommodate a wider audience, I would say Wales is the best destination, it's a stunning place in parts and the roads are certainly better than many of the routes in England. Just takes more organisation, funds and commitment.

As Dansoarr says might be that a few local 1 day rides is what gets arranged, but hey, I'll travel to join in on all of them and see all the MV's I can, finances permitting ;)

See what interest this thread creates and where a central point would be. Failing that, Wales is absolutely stunning, but a long ole way from my corner of the UK. Would need to plan that as a weekend away really.

Hopefully we can get a central ride organised or a few local ones arranged, I'm easy either way, would just like to socialise and see as many MV's together as poss in the UK! ;) Only ever seen multiple MV's when at a track. Would love to see a group ride arranged and maybe become a regular annual MV meet... Interest depending.

I used to live down by Lydden circuit and used to run the coast road (A259) early Sunday mornings down to Rye and back, those were the days, much less traffic, few coppers and virtually no speed cameras.

Plus one for a weekend away in Wales - but I do recommend Mid to North Wales as the South is just an overspill of Bristol and still heavily populated (I commute through it sometimes on my way to the Seven bridge). While the scenery is almost as pretty you don't get to experience the true isolation and empty roads until you get north of Builth Wells.

I know I'm biased because I live here, but there is also a reason why I live here in Mid to North Wales.

I also recommend coming up on Friday day / night - a friend lives in Stevenage and visits a few times a year to sample the roads, it takes him 5 hours to get here and by the time you get here, you're too knackered to appreciate the area. Then the next day you're riding the same roads back to sit another 5 hours on the bike. Best to get here late on Friday night, have a good night's rest, be stunned by the roads in the area on Saturday and not have any luggage with you, then take a leisurely ride back on Sunday via another direction and epic roads. There are roads here 20 miles long and you have literally one or two villages to go through - the rest is through the mountains and valleys (Bala to Welshpool, Dolgellau to Machynlleth, Machynlleth to Rhayader, Elan Valley, Evo Triangle...etc...all right on Mid Wales's doorstep to name just a few for you to Google maps, plus the coastal road up to Snowdon.) - you don't get that in South Wales and it's only an extra 2 hours riding up.

More than happy to recommend areas to find accommodation for the weekend. Even if you got to Hereford / Monmouthshire area and then headed into Wales from there I still recommend taking 2 nights away to really appreciate the roads on the Saturday, you could ride into Wales from there and still see some epic roads.

Hi Chaps
I am down in south east Hampshire ,often up at Loomies /Bury hill and Box hill .Moto Corsa has a great cafe always worth a ride out on a Saturday. But also willing to meet up a bit further a field .
Fantastic, getting a few more numbers now, quite excited to see a bunch of MV's together and get a nice ride and social in the calendar! No reason we can't arrange a SE ride out and consider a further a field weekend break for those interested in a longer haul and different roads too.

Dan, agree the F4 is the best looking bike bar none. did change the clip on mountings on mine which raises the bar angle and you are not bent over quite so much.
Ref to rides a day in the south east would be great. would also consider an overnight, Moto Corsa looks interesting the other place to consider would be up to Bury st Edmunds in Suffolk you have Crazy horse which is full of exotica incl MV as they are a dealer and have nice café, they do evening meets up in summer as well, nearby in Stowmarket is Made in Italy Motorcycles where I bought my Brutale America from they have a fantastic selection of amazing bikes incl at the moment a Fab condition F4 an original 750 America and an 861 Magni, the first place I would visit if I won the lottery !!

Thanks for the suggestions, all worth while. Just need to finalise numbers and what works best as a route/meeting point, that's a bit of work for me to do based on the suggestions we have. I know of the good roads in Essex, but not so much further a field.

Went out for a breakfast blast this morning for a few hours, absolutely knackered, but well needed!

Back on subject - all of the suggestions posted sound good. From my prospective -
Welsh roads sold! - but is at least an overnight although I have accommodation available Cardiff and Abergavenny areas. Crazy Horse great stand at Excel but would need another reason to visit as need to use M25 ?. Any of the others I would love to do.
Dan I await further development if you need any more input from me please PM.

Back off thread subject would you please stop talking about F4s as every time I read it I'm straight on ebay! Any suggestions as to best model up to about £8k?

Cheers Graham

Sorry mate, I can't promise that, infact I think it's quite likely i will repeat how much I adore the F4 as the sexiest bike ever made! ;)

Up to £8k, you can get an early gen 2 if you're lucky, I personally prefer the gen 1 myself and there are a few knocking about for sale in your budget. I believe there is a while 2010 rr for sale and a few gen 1 1000's and 312R's. There is a 312R 1+1 on ebay for £7400, it's got Mitch hub, rad bracket etc, but the feller selling it isn't great and you will have to pay full asking price, but it's a decent, low miles, well looked after bike.

Thanks for all your input Graham, will happily get in touch when we get numbers and dates together and more finalised details. Would suggest for the longer haul Welsh idea we should get definite numbers and a few optional dates, to see what accommodation is available with secure parking etc.

All the best, Dan

Fantastic base for everyone else to jump in off of, good man, thank you. Looking at the Map Tonbridge would be a more pleasant area to meet and makes little odds to me the date or route. It's going to be a long ole days riding wherever we go, so just looking at best and convenient for the masses route. Hopefully the 6-10 of us in this thread can make a common date and agree a suitable route along those lines. Thanks for kicking it off! ;)

Excellent, life & business stops me committing as i get a lot of interrupts. But will try to attend an agreed date, assume me a positive maybe for all dates ?

Would be great to have a meet this year, only made the Loomies one about 5 years ago - 272 is over rated & over run with gxrs imho ;p

MotoCorsa would be good meet as a great Cafe and some great roads around there -

Doing North Wales early May but enjoy mid wales around Builth & heading west towards the coast best of all

The Wilton House bike meet is good but I'm in France that weekend or would have arranged something as on my doorstep

If you build it they will come (unless its east of Basingstoke)

Yes, Wales would be the preference for the roads but is a full weekend commitment for most of us, with accommodation etc required, so looking to arrange something like Tonbridge to Wiltshire-ish along that A272. It's a recommended route and local to the majority, even though I've got a 75 mile ride to get there, the main goal is get as Many MV's together as poss! ;) I want the photo opportunity to get as Many MV's in the UK together as poss, I need a new screensaver ;) PMSL

Hopefully see you on the A272 ride once we have a date and maybe arrange a Welsh trip later in the summer for those interested. I've also been invited on a Pennines trip with a few MV's so when that comes about I'll share the info as I get it.

Sorry Dan been trying to reply to you but seem to have messed up - apologises in advance for what posts!

Looking forward to wherever we end up - the only date that could need working round at the moment is end of May rest fine.
But self employed and usually fairly flexible.

Good man!! The scenery looks awesome, the bikes are stunning, just a shame they didn't let you take the F4 home ;)

That's a long ole trek from where I am, any day of the week, but in this pony weather and given that I've changed all the fluids, rear end inc brakes and last thing to do is fit the chain and sprocket kit, I recon I've qualified that as a pretty decent winter check! ;)

Look forward to the meet up, seeing the bike in the flesh and enjoying the scenery around there!! (y)

Thanks for the pics, inspiring and making me want the weather to hurry up and improve!

Right fella's, let's get this down and agreed now eh...?!

Proposed route - The Hand and Spectre TN4 0RJ (just a meeting point to set off from, place will have a car park and is on a main road) to The Tea Barn GU31 5AX - following the route A26 - A272 (or following Graham if an alternate route is required for traffic etc) that's a 68 mile jaunt one way and I've got a 40 odd mile trek to get to the start point TN4 0RJ.

So in total I would be doing about 220 miles in a day there and back. Which is about right for my comfort limit. How does that suit the rest of you Gents?

I can't see me making it to the Moto Corsa cafe and back in one day to be honest as it adds on another 100 odd miles for me and my shoulder, back and bum cheeks won't have it! BUT no reason why the group can't split after the suggested run to The Tea Barn (GU31 5AX) and go onto Moto Corsa if that's what people want to do who are more local to the area... Also invites others over the West side of the country, to meet us at the Tea Barn and do their own ride there and back. Gets a few more of us together in one spot...?

I suggest we meet BY 10am at the Hand and Spectre, head to The Tea Barn and have lunch together? Currently (based on replies so far) it seems 19th April or 3rd May would be the best date(s) to arrange this around? I can't do 2nd May (out on the p155 so 3rd is a bit hesitant, but I'll do it) or I can also do 30th/31st May, so whatever date suits the majority is best.

Can you reply with your preferred/available date(s) please Gents? I will book a table for the Tea Barn nearer the time and based on what we finalise for date/numbers on this thread.

SO WHO'S IN? (y):D:coffee::p(y) ?

sounds great to me thank you for the planning. 30/31 May looks best on my end. Please go ahead without me if earlier suits most and I will join the next one
