So I’ve been debating on trading in or selling my 2005 F4 and updating to a 2010 F4.
And so, I have to know….
I haven’t seen much posted on the 2010 F4’s as true mechanical comments and I was curious if anyone has had any issues / items that need sorting out. I guess from an on looker’s perspective no comment is a good comment, but more definitive comments would be appreciated.
Biggest question I have is if they have sorted out the overheating. The true test would be if you can park the bike put the kick stand down and let it idle without the temperature running through the roof on a warm day (90+).
But any other comments other than esthetics (everyone has already had their say as looks go), would be greatly appreciated.

Steve I think the bike is still pretty young for any mechanical "issues" to be known. There was talk a while back about some air filter clips that got ingested and subsequently stuck the throttle wide open. That was a press bike that most likely had been re-assembled improperly by one of the journos. No further reports have surfaced to my knowledge. A lot of things have been re-designed, so they probably need some time to really prove reliable in the market place, undoubtedly some things will arise as with all machines though.

I guess I’m just fishing for reasons to drag my feet on the purchase.
I was down at the dealership last Saturday to see one in person, and I think the only reason I was able to stop myself was they didn’t have the color combo that I wanted.

I've been riding the bike for the equivalent of 1500 miles and have experienced no mechanical problems what so ever. Despite hot summer whether there are no heating problems to report. The engine also runs with much less mechanical noise. The bike keeps the front wheel glued to the tarmac. (less unwanted wheelies). I come from a 2004 F41000S and am not sorry for the trade in...

Here are the technical differences:

-Bodywork is roughly 10lbs lighter
-Intake valves now made from titanium
-higher lift cams for better engine breathing at higher RPM
-Heavier crankshaft to smooth out power delivery
-Swingarm length extended 20mm although wheelbase remains the same
-Newly designed water pump which flows 65% more coolant and a single radiator
-Engine is lighter and narrower
The Torque Shift System first introduced on the Tamburini is now standard kit activated between 10.5K and 10.7K rpm
-Airbox volume increased
-Traction Control (8 Levels)
-Lighter Con Rods

Thanks for the info, and I’m glad to hear that everyone so far has been happy with their purchase.

And to answer LiquidWhy’s question no I have not pulled the trigger yet, trying to save up some money before I go back to the dealership and forget about reasoning and let passion take over.

Also after I saw them in the dealership I had to hit up the canyons on my 2005 F4 to make myself forget all about the new F4’s. Needless to say 220 miles and a sore ass latter I forgot all about the new F4’s. Then on Monday at work my desktop wallpaper was set on one of the press release photos of the black on black 2010 F4. I can’t seem to keep them off my mind…………..

Soon my sweet……. Soon……..
