Hi all,
Had a great ride up to the Hunter Valley today on my new Brut. However, I have a few questions...
1. My mate was riding behind me and said he could smell fuel from my exhaust gases. Is my bike running rich or is this normal?

2. My starter button starts the bike fine but appears to be temperamental when controlling the digi display. That is to say it sometimes won't switch through the odo, trip etc... And sometimes it continuously cycles. Is this a knackered switcher an easy fix?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

Hi Phil,

I had the same issue last time I tracked the Brute in October. Guys following could smell fuel. It combined with atrocious fuel economy.

I'm no expert but in my experience a smell of fuel in the exhaust gases = unburnt fuel = excess fuel = bike is running too rich at least at some point in the rev range.

Cheers.

Rich fuel is common, but can be adjusted - also use 95 RON - better to run a little rich than a little lean. Regarding the digi display - send it back to the Dealer to get fixed :bash:

Fev - welcome to the family mate.

if you've got a 750 is there any chance you can confirm with the seller if the Service Power Unit (SPU) was replaced with a new OEM one? - (search for SPU on the forum and you can read the history, symptoms etc).

I've posted a reply to totalbrutale's request about fuel economy - I run mine on 91....never a had a problem and I'm just under 30k km on the clock of mine.

Best of luck

Thanks guys,

As I thought. I'll ask them to adjust the fuel settings and get the starter button fixed.

Anyone tell me how many K's I should be getting per tank as that wil re-enforce the running rich etc...

Thanks,

Phil

hey Cruiser,

The SPU sounds like it may be an issue as my indicators have a weird pattern to them...

3 normal flashes, then 2 rapid, 3 normal etc...

I also reckon I'm on about 150k's per tank of 98.

Thanks

Hey Fev - indicators are an early warning signal of an SPU that's on the way out - again, seach the forum for SPU.

...highly recommend you assess options on where to purchase from before proceeding with a dealer (CAG may have a unit)

Cheers
