I need to replace my Arai Profile helmet and really like the look of the AGV GP-Tech Simoncelli rep. I have to go pretty far to get to a dealer that stocks AGVs and wanted to know ahead of time about how they fit. I have a long oval head and was wondering if the AGV is going to fit before I make the drive out there to try one on for real.

I have an AGV. It's a Ti-Tech. I find it does not fit my funny shaped head quite as well as my Arai RX-7. Helmets are such a personal decision. The only useful opinion I might be able to add is that the AGV sits on a little display stand 95% of the time while one of my Arai helmets is used. That's just my opinion.
Dave.

I have both the GP-Tech and the RX-7. AGV's shape is more oblong; Arai is rounder. Arai interiors start out soft and get softer and a bit sloppier. AGV interiors feel firmer and stay firmer. Finish is excellent for both makes, though I like AGV better. AGV's shape is quieter and causes less tirbulence, though I haven't tried the Arai -GP.

Try one (AGV) on!

At the end of the day, I'll go with what fits best. I really like the Simoncelli design, but not enough to put up with an ill fitting helmet over. Thanks for the input guys, I'll ride out there this weekend and try one on.

Kikemon,
I just went through the same process - I bought another Arai (Quantum - Italian flag series) as it was far more comfortable for my head shape than the AGV and Shark. - I went with the Quantum instead of the GP as I use it almost daily - if I was only intending to use a helmet for Track days....then a GP.

I use Arai fits best for me, I always like Arai, but the downside is changing the lense take care not to break the side pod. Also tinted lense & side pods aint cheap.

The Race spec Helmets tend to be noisier but lighter & moore vents great for track & racing.

I might try Shark RSI or (RSR2-which have thicker lense 1st full carbon helmet) shark had a 4 out 5 star review. Easy to replace the lense.

If you wear an Arai Profile, and it is the helmet that fits you properly, you will not be able to wear many (probably any) of the other amanufacturer's helmets. The Profile is an oval shape and most others are round or round-oval. I have tried, and tried, and TRIED...but the Profile is it. The old RX-7 worked, but the new one...too round.:blah:

I love my arai helmet. Comfortable and cool graphics. The only issue is they ship it with an instructional DVD for visor changes. Big neg.
