Hi All,

So in my hunt for a new bike I managed to stumble across an absolutely amazing deal on a 2014 B3 800. I havent bought it yet so I wont share where or the exact price but lets just say its noticeably less than $10k. With that being said, is there anything I should be overly cautious of? Its coming from a very reputable dealer and will have the warranty starting the day I ride off the lot. Im going to go buy it this weekend barring nothing terrifying gets released to me in a reply to this thread.

So is there any warranty work thats guaranteed to happen? Any recalls or fun stuff like that? Or, the worst, any known problems thats going to have to come out of my pocket?

Also, does anyone happen to know what the most recent software release is and if its a warranty upgrade or if I can still get them for free once the warranty expires?

Hi,
A 2014 bike should have the known issues sorted before delivery, they were gear indicator misreading, an upgrade part should have been fitted at build, second poor starting caused by faulty starter clutch/sprag, so you should be in the clear on both, it is a two year warranty, parts and labour.

As for software updates, the dealer should check the bike during its predelivery to you, last update was May 2014, there is no way of you knowing what release your bike is running, but as you say the dealer is reputable you again should be OK.

Free software updates are for life, not just period of warranty.

You should be overly cautious about losing the bike to another buyer. :stickpoke

The exact reason I didnt specify where its being sold from. Annoyingly theyre closed today so tomorrow morning I think it may have to be deposited via the telephone. Got a quote from another dealer this weekend at almost 16k OTD. The one that I'm looking at should be <11k OTD which caused a bit of a laugh.

Why so cheap then? less than 11k (USD) I guess? seems to be one hell of a difference. If it is straight up a great deal good luck pal.

There was also a batch of models effected by a faulty swing arm pin/bolt it affected all the 3 cylinder models built between dec 13 and march 14 I think but I could be wrong but again the dealer should be able to check this against the vin number of the bike. As an official recall if it did affect your bike it should have been done anyway. Not sure the sprag clutch issue is a recall? I've not had a problem and not been asked to return to the dealer to have it replaced.

Its a 2014 demo model. It has a couple thousand miles on it already. But its never been registered so its being sold as a new bike. Id much rather save 5k and have the full warranty and the summer MV benefits going on right now ($1000 rebate from MV on the B3 800. So its actually <10k) than pout about having a couple thousand miles on the bike.

MV's been good to me with regards to warranty work, so I wouldn't worry about it too much (FYI, I think location makes a big difference, and in my case I'm in SoCal, USA).

Sounds like a great deal, though I'm usually not a big fan of demo bikes, as they get abused most of the time.

If you look over the bike mechanically, and everything checks out, it's probably one of the best deal out there now.

I'm also in SoCal so my pickings for warranty work are plenty. Plus my brother and I have a pretty good relationship with Pro Italia courtesy of Aprilia. The thought of a demo bike doesnt scare me all that much. Sure they get ridden hard but I wouldnt go into a used bike purchase expecting any less.
