Truly a terribly sad but than again well written encouraging story.
I hope Michael has the power to have a few more exciting track days.

Well written. Horrible end-game.

I came away with two observations:

First, he was cavalier about his health. I'm 61.....way older than him, and my strategy on my health is to be as proactive as I possibly can. I'm a good candidate to contract prostate cancer. I don't have it, but my physician has all but guaranteed that I will. Therefore I'm going to the urologist every 120 days, with the understanding that WHEN it comes, we'll be ahead in the combat phase. I'm convinced that one of the primary reasons why women outlive men by an average of 5 years is that women rant shy about going to the doctor, where men tend to avoid it. Moral: Guys, go to the doctor regularly.

Second, he's in a spiritual wasteland. Other than personally being sad about that, there's not much more for me to say.
