MASTERBIKE 2006,Track Jerez-Spain, 2006 F41000R Lap time 1.51,171.
MASTERBIKE 2007,Track Jerez-Spain, 2007 F41000312 Lap time 1.52,921.

More power doesn´t make the bike faster.

The Master Bike 2005 was in other track, not in Jerez, so I have no reference for the S.
Thanks

This doesn't mean much.

Track conditions?, diff tyres?, diff riders?

They need to be raced together... etc, I reakon the 312 will be faster :) thats what its built for

Maybe only faster with a 'real racer' on it? but I agree, the 312 is designed more for the track over the R, which was also designed more for the track over the S :)

Obviously :)

As for the original question i'd say that unless you plan to track it a lot there's no big difference.
I ended up getting the 312 but i was this close to get a left over R since i didn't bought the MV as my track bike.

Both Masterbikes have been done by the same riders in the same conditions in. May be the tires were different. Nothing else.

Last year, in STK1000 chanpionship the F41000R was the protagonist. This year, where is the 312 in the STK1000?.

Was necessary to do the 312 for that??

I will keep my R, for sure.

Someone pointed this out to me some weeks back asking if I had noticed this...

I agree the 312R is an improvement but not a visible one in my opinion. For starters they got the colors all wrong :p ALso I keep hearing and reading about how some of the hp has been lost in the midrange to add more hp at the top end.

I am pretty sure the hp advantage can be cured with the exhaust replacement on an R and it will exceed the 312R in terms of power if you are interested...but then again with an exhaust the 312R will prob be more powerful. Point is no change IMO other than the engine meeting Euro3 requirements for emissions and still making ungodly amounts of horsepower in the 312R.
