2015 F3 with 2000km and a broken crankshaft

Hello people,

I have recently purchased a used track F3 with basically no mileage.

After my first Trackday I have found out that my crankshaft has a crack in it. So my question is, how is that even possible and has anyone even heard of this happening? This just seems insane to me because how can a crank even crack, especially with those km on it.

Have not heard of a crankshaft cracking on any modern bike..... please do share more detail (photos).
I have a good used crank if you need it, but shipping from USA may be expensive.

Also is it normal for the 800 to be very lazy above 10k rpm, unfortunately my camera didn't record so don't have a video. But basically above 10k it revved up much slower and just felt like the torque dropped.
Not sure if the tune may be off, since it was tuned with ecustudio, and maybe that's why the crank cracked, but that seems unlikely.

WOW, dude! If it were me i would definitely reach out to MV - i am by no means an expert on here but I'm pretty sure the crankshafts are forged and not casted...that component should be rock solid. Keep up us in the loop. Sorry about the failure...perhaps a little J.B. Weld can get her going again :)

From what I can see in those photos it is your crankcase that is cracked, not the crankshaft.
What could have caused the crankcase to break in that area is another question.
Does the crankshaft still turn ?

So... i've got some very bad news. Mechanic said the crank is gone, but maybe also the top half engine case, they still have to see if it is saveable or not.
But maybe worse than that is that apparently this bike has the engine of a brutale and not an F3. Looks like i got scammed... So now the question is search a F3 engine or save this one.

Probably that's why above 10k rpm it revved slower on the straights. Anyway, think this is gonna be my last MV... :(

The bottom half of the F3 and Brutale/Dragster/et al are the same. It is only the cylinder head, cams and valves that differ.
The engine case is definitely broken, you can see that in your photos.
What condition is the cylinder head ???
Don’t hate on MV because you bought a “junk yard” bike.

Mechanic didn't say anything about the head so i'm guessing it's good.
I mean even if it was a junk yard bike, it still didn't have many km and the crank still broke and also the whole valve spring stuff is pretty annoying because i read on here that people are changing valve springs every season just to be able to ride the bike on track, so yeah pretty uncool.

Would love to see the crank that broke. Even if you don’t fix the engine please tear it down and share photos of the parts. Never heard of a crankshaft breaking. Connecting rods, yes. But that usually leaves a hole in the crankcase.

I would really be having a chat with the previous owner if he had it long enough and made into the trackbike frankenstein before selling it to you...

Hope u don't get a bad vibe about the brand MV now because of this. Good luck in whichever direction u happen to go with the project now!

And yeah, if that engine gets torn apart we would like to see some pics of those cracked internals !
