2014 F4 Throttle Settings

Hi, I posted this request in the F4 section but no one responded. So I thought this might be a better place to post this request.

I just added another F4 to my collection, this time a 2014 which obviously comes with an electronic throttle. I was wondering if someone could send me the settings I need to change for the best throttle response. I searched the forum and members keep referring to a Motorcycle USA article that isn’t available anymore.

I want to eliminate throttle lag and bogging issues that I’m sure all F4 owners are aware of.

One option is ECU Studio and you should get various ROM files to help with the throttle response or can manually adjust. I have on my 2013 F4RR and its great.

This might be a related or unrelated question. If I get ECU Studio, do I need the MV’s factory updated maps or will ECU Rom file overwrite it?
would like to here how this works out , been looking as well just trying to get a bit more throttle response at take off , i removed my in tank charcoal canister and blocked off line to throttle bodies she runs fine but could be smotter off a light need some fuel mapping
I finally took my 2014 F4 to a different dealership (pretty far) to get a map update. He plugged in the bike and told me right away that it hadn't been updated since 2015. So far so good. Apparently the ECUs have a boot file, somewhat similar to the DOS based boot system in our PCs. According to him the later map upgrades provided by MV came with an updated boot file. First you load up the correct boot file and then load the map file on top of it. The boot file in my bike had one letter different from the boot file that was supposed to match with the latest map update. And long behold, he DID NOT have the updated boot file in his archives, only the map file.

Anyway, he fiddled around for an hour into his archives and like any good dealer wanted me to leave the bike there for a couple of days, which I politely refused. Then he called some MV USA rep, who was also his buddy. Long story short, you didn't need the updated boot file to upgrade the map. If you did, the software will prompt you for it apparently. Patience prevailed and I finally got the bike updated. Paid $120 CAD and off I went.

Now the good part, I felt the throttle response improvement right away. I took the bike to the freeway and gave it some beans. The bike runs noticeably smoother without any flat spots. So those of you who have ignored the update from MV on older bikes, I encourage you to go for it. It's worth the headache and $$.

I personally don't like when someone raises a concern and then disappears, without closing the loop because someone down the road might have the same issues. So anyway, I wanted to give an update on this since I just got this done yesterday.

Cheers

Do you know the map # the loaded to your bike? My F4RR has 0515-FD38 which was released on 17 December 2015 in service bulletin 166. The map for the F4 and F4R in that release was 0515-F038. I'm not aware of any further releases for the F4.

Map number is 0516F039. This is the latest one.

Thanks for the article. This is why I love this forum.
