its doing it while riding... but it does seem to be the same light as the immobiliser

the MV book says nothing about the shift lights doubling as any kind of warning light, so i figure i've some kind of short

after reading my original post i can see how that may have looked strange haha... the light coming on while riding, even at around 4000rpm

after riding the bike again today, its a warning.... an error code, i cant see which one tho as it only flashes up on the screen every now and again for a split second.... i'm guessing after the engine swap its got a lose wire somewhere as its only flashing up, it doesnt stay there...

does anyone know where i can get a list of error codes etc ?

Glad to hear this all finally worked out for you now if you can get this issue corrected. Does anyone know if this issue is specific to a certain model year? Scary stuff really. How fast were you going when it let go?

Well i found out that the light is infact a fualt code... trouble is we cant work out which. when the code comes up it should stay on the screen, and when u turn the bike off it will tell u what the code is, ie injector failure etc... trouble is on mine the code is only flashing up, doesnt stay there which is making it hard to find the problem... probably just a lose conection somewhere tho as the bike was just put back together

Shouldn't the ECU store past DTCs (detected trouble codes). The diagnostic software should be able to see what codes have been registered, even if they are not current.

well found out what the warning light is for... in another peice of wonderful MV reliability its a brand new coil thats failing

hit the stop button at just the right time and the code came up on the dash and said coil 4 failure

Question, considering this is a brand new motor and coils, after the last drematic failure... do MV actually have a quality control system??? ..... becuase personally if i had such a major failure, and was sending a brand new engine i'd make sure the bloody thing actually worked 100%

so now we r swapping out the brand new coil for an old one out of the last motor... which is not a major drama, but seriously starting to question what the hell is going on at MV... this is not acceptable

Coils aren't made by MV. Also, coil might have been damaged in installation, or there could be a bad ground. This sort of thing has cropped up before you know, and it has always been due to human error.

Look hennessy, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.

If I was this gentleman, I would punch you in the face right about now.:wtf: "Take a stress pill" :loser:
Dana, if you have nothing useful to say, and you have no idea what the guy has been through, it might be a good idea to keep quiet, even if you might be right about the coil installation. :stickpoke

Ho Donsy. Ya, I've read all the postings about the motor blowing up and tearing everything to shreds. Sucks. I'd be really angry too. Just being a wise-ass.

Also, I'm betting it isn't really the coil... :stickpoke Diagnostics might say it is, and replacing the coil might fix it, but... Oh well.

love your coment DONSY

i understand this is only a coil.....but human error or not this was a complete motor sent by MV, ie coils already fitted etc, so it is there human error... i'd have made sure it actually worked. also to add to my original post, the guard on the motor looked like MV also attacked it with a grinder, so we had to swap it with the old one.
i may be worked up over previous problems, but come on.... no one can say this is acceptable, this is effectively a brand new bike

Hennesy,

You have every right to feel the way you feel about your bike. I paid 15k cash for my 2012 and about another 6k invested in upgrades with an extended warranty. So yeah I would be livid if I went though what your going through. And to Donsy point if someone spouted off at the mouth about issues that are out of my control and yet financially costly, I wouldn't punch him in his face but rather punch him in his throat so no more stupid stuff would come out of his mouth.
